I'm 40.
Entered AA when I was 33 - relapsed twice, and am coming up on 2 years clean and sober.
By the age of 19, I was identified as an alcoholic.

I'm 46 now and I quit about 5 years ago.
I started drinking around 1975 and had my 3rd DUI by 1985 but drinking wasn't a problem.
I never realized it until about 2000.

I am 43 now, for 15 more days.

Quit when I was 33- stayed sober for 7 years. Found sobriety again at 43.

I knew it was a problem in my teens.

I'm 35. Quit at 32. Realized it was a problem at 32. Was a binge drinker all throughout my 20s.

How old were you when you realized drinking was a problem for you? Hmm...always? First treatment, age 19. Began drinking alcoholically (binge drinking, later daily drinking) at age 9.

Quit at 39 but relapsed 3 times. AA is helping me a lot this time around.

I knew I had a problem in my early 20s.

In reality drinking was a problem for me from the age of about 13 on, but I did not realize it.

Hmmmmn...I'm 76 years "young". Started when I was 16, quit when I was 48. Never really thought it was a problem, although the "periodic" week-end drinking/drunks became more frequent, the throwing up/hangovers got worse, calling out sick on Mondays was a definite problem.

It wasn't until my problem husband of 22 years left me for another alcoholic, they joined AA, and I joined Al-Anon so I could understand his problem when we eventually reconciled. After attending a few AA meetings, I realized I was identifying more with the AA's than the Al-Anon's. I decided to try to quit, went into withdrawal, wound up in a mini-rehab, thence to AA. It's been a helluva 28 year ride.

BTW...my husband and I never did reconcile; but, he died a few years ago with many years of sobriety. Through the influence of the AA program, we were able to mend a lot of fences and make amends to each other.

I am 28 now.
I was 27 when I got sober in Feb. of this year.
I've known I have a problem since I got to college and discovered that I couldn't stop drinking until I was DRUNK. I also figured it was problematic that I could be wasted and no one would notice. That doesn't bode well.

Still holding on- just barely...

How old were you when you realized drinking was a problem for you? 23, I also had problems with ecstasy, cocaine, amphetamines and ketamine from 17. I last took illegal drugs about 1 month ago when I overdosed on nearly 1/4oz of cocaine and felt like I was going to have a heart attack. Alcohol was nearly 3 weeks ago.
