I have a key ring like Blake has that holds my current one. Last years is in a compartment built into my Big Book cover.

Hello to many of the NEWCOMERS just joining SR and to the elders that have been here...everyone sharing their own ESH with one another.....

I have my medallions in a little velver pouch in one of my dresser drawers....but the ONE DAY AT A TIME HANGS FROM MY KEYRING.....My purse isnt big enough to hold my bunch of keys...so at work i keep them in my pocket and when im out shopping they r in my hands.....then i have to place them on the counter to check out....So i know where my chips r at all times....

However....a chips a chip...my recovery is in my soul....my heart...my mind...my gut...my intuition....my thoughts.....and that is with me always too.....u can lose a chip..or item....but what u learn intellectually stays with u....no one can take that way from u unless u drink or use to numb those thoughts and feeling....

Sharon, I keep mine in my butt crack... That way if I try to put my head up my ass and drink or use again, my chip will be there impeding my efforts and reminding me. J/K...

Speaking of chips my I am trying to find someone who manufactures chips and medallions for our Sober Skaters message board so we can celibrate our clean and sober time... Anyone with info please PM me.

Hang loose, Doc.

My abf key chains are on his truck keys. He should get another one this Sat the 7th for 60 days clean.

He went through the TASC program for a year and I asked him where his medallions were from that and he said he left them at his moms. The next time we are up there I am gonna get them. Any suggestions what I can do with them for him. If he could see them more it might help him. He was always to happy when he got one of these.

I emailed this poem to him. I hope he reads it.

Thanks

You could mount them in a nice frame with a velvet background, or take them in and have a custom matt frame made... Just an idea or two.

Hang loose, Doc.

ritah thats cool about ur bf .....i guess the guys can just put it in the pockets with the rest of their change...or place it in his wallet....having it in a place ..same place all the time...and getting use to seeing it everyday helps...but it takes practice....he'll get the hang of it and before he knows it it will become a part of his everyday dress....but to remember...its just a token..if he loses it..its not the end of the world..it can be replaced..just ask for another....but the real recovery lies within..the feeling of knowing u have made it one more day sober...and that u have added up a number one ODAAT to collect to add up to a month...The program lies within on how u feel...the helping of another member in recovery by sharing ur own ESH with them....Its doing what is required of us on a daily bases to stay sober...

Its the giving this program away that we get the best satisfaction from....

Way to go Ritah for ur bf....

im only 6 days into this journey, and I got a desire chip at the first meeting I attended. It remains in my pocket at all times with my change, so every time I put my hand in my pocket, I am reminded that all I need is another 24 hrs. to make it another day... It also serves to remind me of all I lost because of what I was doing to myself and others..For me it serves as a desire to stop the drinking, and to stop the hurt I caused...

I have a 22 year medallion given to me by one of my group members...it's on my keychain.

But, the one I value most is my medallion from the Matt Talbot retreats I used to attend 2 - 3 times a year...it is engraved on the back W-2 1648...which stands for Women's Group #2, 1648th member. That medallion is in my strong box with all the information regarding my funeral arrangements...it will be buried with me when that time comes.

My sponsor told me to identify as a newcomer for the first thirty days. Needless to say, I have a pile of newcomer chips.

I almost identified as a newcomer tonight. The chip person was real cute and I don't get many hugs now-a-days.

I have a NA on my keyring (at a meeting during detox it's all they had) and also the serenity prayer on my key chain.

I always keep my current chip in my pocket, where I can feel it close to me. It's a good reminder of how far I've come, and that I have to work at sobriety for the rest of my life.

Doc ur sooooooo funny...lol ill have to remember that with my
chip just in case i get some hair brain ideas where i think im
too big for my britches... : )

Ritah that is good news for ur BF...60 days is a good start...

At the meeting today i think someone shared about the
chips and trying to stay clean and sober on the chip
system....

It doesnt work...people think the chips will keep them
clean and sober but in reality its how u work ur program.
Chips r just a reminder..a subtle reminder of days collected
trying to stay sober....its working the 12 steps and living
them that will keep u sober and clean.

I think someone called it a relapse chip instead of a slip
chip...relapsing into old behaviors....

Anyway...one day at a time keeping it simple...
