Topic: Do You Have Refreshments At Ur Meetings? If So What Is It?

Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.

By the Grace of my HP and people like
you here in SR I havent had a drink of
alcohol since 8-11-90. For that im truely
grateful.

I enjoy meetings....just because you
get to see buddies of urs u havent
seen all week. Or its a meeting you
heard something you needed to hear.
or its a place to get that GREAT
cup of coffee you need to get u
going.....

And of course if its a NOON meeting....

FOOD...! My meetings at noon was
a good time for folks to bring lunch.

Its where if you wanted to compete
with a fellow buddy to see who brings
the best desserts....lol

I use to bring many neat things id
bake just about everyday...I was
always finding a new recipe for a new
batch of cookies, or cakes....

RECOVERY folks LOVE to eat....

Sometimes a meeting with food is the
only place to get something to eat for
the day....and i hope not....but....

Do you have meetings that u attend
where someone brings something to
eat to go along with that GREAT cup
of RECOVERY COFFEE...lol If so what is it????

COOKIES, CAKES, CHIPS, LITTLE
SANDWISHES....ANYTHING...???

Well, the scourge of donuts are a pretty regular feature, though I don't eat them. Sometimes people bring fruit or crackers or whatnot.

I recently took some classes on ikebana--Japanese flower arranging, and I've been doing an arrangement of that every week lately, which certainly helps the place since it tends to be a bit dingy. I'm a little bit disreputable, because I supplement the few flowers I get by culling a few clippings from the neighborhood, though not much from people's yards and nothing noticable. Helps me feel more like I belong there.

refreshments ...

Our meetings are held upstairs from our local Alano Club.
There's stuff down there.
Somtimes, people bring hard candy, gum and stuff for those who can't afford to buy anything downstairs.
I'm planning a cookie bonanza ... on the next payday weekend.

Money is very very tight in this town, and has been for years since the closing of several mines. While some are still with the mines, and doing well, the majority is out of work, or coping with low - wage jobs and the personal cash for contributions like cookies and donuts just isn't there.

Sharon, if you want to make a cornbread - I'll private you my addy and you can UPS it here! That would be a HOOT!
LOL!
These folks wouldn't know what to do with something like that. They're all the time telling me 'it must be a southern thing' when I ask why don't we do something or the other up here... hee, hee.
I told them that everything in the south happens around food.

everything up here happens around the heater. Or in a bar.

I have to go gluten free and caffeine free so bring my own. Some meetings like to have a jar of decaf donated them, or reimburse me for one. If I'm coming from work and eating places aren't open and/or there isn't time, I eat something during the "meeting before the meeting". One person who is prominent told me I shouldn't but several people told me it was fine.
