Topic: Where Is Your Chip Or Medallion?
Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.
MY MEDALLION
I always carry my medallion,
a simple reminder to me
Of the fact that I'm in recovery
No matter where I may be.
This little chip is not magic
Nor is it a good luck charm.
It isn't supposed to protect me
From every possible harm.
It's not meant for comparison,
Or for all the world to see.
It's simply an understanding
Between my Higher Power and me.
Whenever I doubt the cost
I paid for recovery,
I look at my medallion
To remind what used to be.
It reminds me to be thankful
For my blessings day by day,
And to practice the principles
In all i do and say.
It's also a daily reminder
Of the peace and comfort I share
With all who work the program
And show they really care.
So I carry my medallion
To remind no one but me
That the Promises will unfold
If I let my HP work for me.

I've got a bunch and choose one randomly to keep in my pocket for that day. I look at them during the day and think back to what it was like at the time indicated on the chip: i.e.: if I have my 2 month chip, I remind myself of what recovery was like at 2 months. Lets me know how far I have come.

My current medallion is in my wallet. When I was trucking, I had two wallets, one with Canadian money, one with American. There was a medallion in the change purse of each. I valued them very highly, more than the wallet itself. I figured if I ever ordered a drink, I would drop the medallion into the glass. If I still drank the drink, I'd have to leave the medallion in the glass and walk away from it.
I've never ordered the drink.

I have a medallion holder on my key ring that I keep my current one in.
My old one is in a picture frame along with a picture from my 1 year party.
all my key tags are linked together and hung on my wall.

I got no fancy medalion or coin for being a yr clean lol. Nah I dun mind it so much but I actually like the idea of some kinda reminder in your wallet like 'look how for you got on the way, dun blow it now!' I prolly can figure something out that suits my recovery method and reminds me like it reminds all ya ppl in AA/NA too. *goes on her way to ponder this*

Hi,
I keep my 90 day AA pin on my altar (I am a Buddhist) on top of a Buddhist blessing bag one of my fellow AA's gave me, next to my statue of the Buddha, my incense holder, and my candle.
Be Well,
Joe
