New Year Challenge Pt 6
Thanks Caramel.
We spoke of how it seemed to go on for so long with my uncle being sick before passing away, its brings a sense of relief to you in one way that its at an end. The constant complicated hospital visits seeing someone you love in such ill health, its exhausting.
I will forever cherish the good memories i have of him.
Today was a walk to work day, spring is in the air and people are getting busy. 3rd year of this tree blossom but its worth it.

^ Hope you’re bearing up well, AL.
Those hospital visits are a strain for so many reasons.
Definitely with you on the sense of relief. I naively thought my dad would get better (in and out of hospital for a year) so was shocked when he died, but he did so at home which I was “happy” about and he definitely was. But when it came to my mum a matter of months later, I knew that people so very old are unlikely to get better. I remember a kindly nurse asking if I wanted information on my mum’s condition/notes, and I just smiled and said “no, thank you”. When someone’s on their way out, they’re going soon, and it too was a relief (although I’m very sad she went in a nursing home alone). As you say, you have the memories, AL.
And this is SR. A year or two back, you might’ve been tempted to “have a drink for him” which is what drinkers do, even if your uncle had been sober for decades. The sober you is coping better 🙂

So true Hodd. I just cant get over how tired i am. I would probably have been wanting to get home as fast as i could if i was still a drinker. Getting away from the family that we only see now at funerals.
Turned out to be a lovely get together and we left at 6pm with everyone else sober and full of laughter.

Ok back on track from today. All over the place last week, no routine and so on.
Irish oral exam over for my sons school leaving cert, French Tuesday, unnecessary pressure on a young teenagers shoulders but thats the system we deal with.
One more week for Nimes and seeing my daughter i can't wait.

Another day begins. Came home from work yesterday and got a little excited, tide was in sun was out so i got my gear and went straight to the beach for a dip. Water was a little bit warmer in the evening but it was colder getting out. Still a buzz all the same 🙂.
Yes Robbie we are getting everything this week it even snowed yesterday for a while.
Dash cam today on my route to my breakfast spot.
Did a nice indoor cycle followed by a run on the Barcelona beach earlier. YouTube is so handy at times.

Good morning AL & all. Just thought I'd share a pic of my own. I went down the coast this past weekend to visit my brothers. I stopped at the elephant seal hangout near San Simeon. Those blobs are a bunch of elephant seals, enjoying the spring sunshine.

Busy morning. A swim in roughish waters this morning, that swim when you can taste the salt water a bit too much, swimming parallel to the beach and waves breaking on top of you.
After shivering my way out and having a warm shower we had a rugby match and won, so we had a happy car driving back home. So far so good today.
Cant upload an image for some reason ☹ i will try again later.

Hard to warm up today. Usual cold water swim could only last 5 minutes before my teeth started to rattle.
Food on the go now, a weeks worth of pasta to keep my boy going. I know he can do it himself but it puts his mamas mind at rest a little bit at least knowing he can fill his belly.

You're far braver than me, AL, to swim in those spring waters. Your latitude is higher than mine so I know it's colder where you are, and I hardly put my toes in the water around here. It motivates me to stay on my standup paddleboard and not fall in LOL.
Tursiops yesterday was particularly cold, the water was 7 Celsius so i could only manage 5 minutes. Drive to Dublin tonight and we fly out early tomorrow morning to Nimes. I cant wait, Friday is a day in the city of Sète on the Mediterranean so i will have a dip in the sea there.
Nice this morning but the rain clouds have gathered and its going to be a wet 3 hour drive this evening.
Tomorrow a photo from France at some stage 🙂.
