Welcome back Tursiops. I thought of you yesterday during a walk. I'm also a scuba diver, though it's been a few years since I've gone. Did you do a land-based trip or a live-aboard?

Bim, I did a bit of both -- land for a few days to get back in the swing of things, then a liveaboard.

No walking as such, still hedge cutting and im still not finished but getting plenty of exercise in. One more day should finish it but it can wait for a few days. Off tomorrow so hopefully will get a walk in tomorrow. The sun is still shining everyone is going to the beach but i really hate it so im happier in the garden. Sleeping well from all this physical work. Woke up at 8.30am which is late for me these days 🙃.
The hidden dumping grass and hedge cutting spot, unfortunately more hedge around that 😭.

Looks like a beautiful sunny day. We've moved into our "grey June" days here ... cold and foggy, as San Francisco summers often are.

Yeah those baby herring, it can only mean the mackerel won't be far behind. Rod is ready. Going to fish off the kayak this year. The mackerel follow them up river so i wont have to paddle too far.

Early morning sunbathing for a cormorant on the river. i can't help myself i love the early morning walk. Cars a less frequent now as the secondary school has finished, just the poor exam class there now. Lots of pressure on those young shoulders.
In other news a law has been passed that warning/health lables will have to be put on all alcohol products in Ireland from 2026, its a start. Guess who has come out and objected to it🤭.

Warning labels should have happened 100 years ago, right?

Pfffffft. Sadly the people who have a drinking problem will still have that same problem...may they find peace.

I also love your early morning walks. Yesterday I got in my 90 minutes before 7AM. So much wildlife is out in the early morning!

It was an almost close up selfie, but never happened. I got greedy and tried to get as close as possible but no the Heron flew away☹
Theres a change in the weather. Dull and a drop of rain but only a drop. Its sad to say it but we need the water for our farmers. If you could only get it to start raining about 9pm and finish by six am it would be good.

I'm inspired by your morning walks, AL. I have been very sluggish since my return from vacation, staying in bed all morning. For me there's a fine line between resting, and wallowing (low mood). I'll try to get myself up for a morning walk which I know would help start my day off better.

Its good for me Tursiops, even when I feel like not going out. When i do it changes my feelings inside from being negative to positive.
Spent the evening feeding the foxes. Unfortunately I didn't see any cubs this year ☹.

Oh wow. I see coyotes here, I don't think I've seen a fox. My way of dealing with them is to go the other way! I'm never sure how a wild animal is going to act.

Maybe that's why I like birds. They're peaceful harmless creatures for the most part!

The urban fox as they are known, more common nowadays with food waste readily available and people like me feeding them every night 🙂. I even saw one this morning on my walk.
Left earlier than usual. Woke at 5am for some reason. I listened to a podcast and a fellow joked saying the only reason to go back drinking is he might sleep until around 9am, no-one said anything about the early waking.
i myself put it down to going to bed early nowadays i still manage my 7 hours sleep and they are good hours🙂.
Foggy morning so far

sweet little boat in that first pic. And that second one looks like a cruiser ... makes me miss the cruising sailboat I had with the late Mr. Tursiops. We had some good adventures on that. But not something I could manage on my own! So I swapped it for a camping van.

Still a dream of mine to have that campervan 🙂. If you look carefully Tursiops there's a man in the inflatable boat behind the yacht getting ready to come off the river. Another person after taking up residence on the river.
More yachts arriving into the harbour either low tides bring too shallow waters or else its just too big for the marinas.
My excitement for today is going to the recycling centre.

Such a cool image with the super-yacht in the background and then the really old fort walls in the foreground. There's a story there...

There certainly is Biminiblue. Held by british forces for almost 300 years until independence in 1921. A sad history with many names on a wall inside now long gone. Names now that many locals have and probably dont realise where they came from. My surname is there 😅 My great grandfather lost on the SS Laurentic in Lough Swilly during WW1. My ancestors were supposed to have come across during the 1600s from Cornwall in England and ended up marrying locals, we still apparently have sayings from my street that are still used by us in my home town but nowhere else in Co Cork.
