Class of August 2021 Support Thread Part 8
Thought my New England shore was pretty hi-speed, but Free's sure got me beat 😎 [happy b-day, BTW].
Share tonight was someone who was scheduled for a triple bypass but first wound up in detox after a seizure. It was real quiet during that share. Here, I would just point out that no matter how we feel about what we've been through, there're plenty of people who've been through worse embarrassment, worse health situations, worse crises, you name it.
That easily could've been me just 40 days ago. Or anytime in the future.
But for today, I am listening to Scriabin's complete piano sonatas and sipping decaf chai iced tea (I highly recommend both). I make sure not to take such things for granted. When I'm drinking, everything I love is blunted, everything I don't is intolerable; when I'm kicking, not even that.
What the hell. I'll post some:

Thanks everyone. What a great birthday. The weather cleared, and the temps were perfect. I was sang happy birthday song by all my fellow adventurers and staff on the boat, and provided the most yummy cake! Then I was whisked off to get a facial (first one ever) before dinner with newfound friends.
Brain refuses to change over the time. It’s about 3:30am here. Ugh.
We are in Port Douglas. Dee, and all the other Aussies, WHAT AN AMAZING corner of your world!!!
Going to zoo thing near here first thing, then on to another country. Clue, LOTS os locals here have travelled there and love it, at least a 6 hour flight. Under exclaimed and under rated, considered quite a treasure.
Thats enough about me. I want to post thoughtfully later, but wanted to upload pics while I can.

Ok. Don’t mean to dominate the thread here, but I’m so very annoyed at the amount of time and attention given to the alcohol drinkers on the plane.
Just 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Why does that affect me? Because the wait staff are busy pouring drink after drink after drink, from plane boarding, to snack time, to appetizer, etc. We have been flying for 3 hours. Ugh. Shouldn’t even be whining, but as an outsider, it sure is annoying to realize. I’m sure if I was in the depths of active addiction, I would only be thinking of my next drink, and heck, you know, all inclusive, so won’t hurt, right?
Sometimes the wealthy have the worst addiction. Money is no object to obtain more poison, and it seems it is so much more flowing here than anywhere I’ve seen.
I did get a mocktail on arrival. That was very nice.

Hi Free...I'm doing fine, thanks for asking. It's around 3 AM here my time (East Coast US) and I can't sleep so thought I'd fix myself a cup of Sleepytime Tea and do some internet surfing.
Cambodia sounds so exciting! There are so many places I want to go in the world and that is definitely on my list. Can't wait to see pics.
Funny you mention the drinking on the plane because we met friends tonight for dinner who told the story of their very first time flying first class on a trip and getting served non-stop alcohol. Apparently it was a night time flight and the entire plane was asleep but them, as they just kept ordering drinks. On my last 2-3 years of business travel, I was usually upgraded to first class because I flew so many miles I was in the upper tier on the frequent flyer programs. I would no sooner sit in my seat and the flight attendant was asking if I wanted a wine. I remember one flight to the West Coast I drank at least a bottle of wine if not more. Shaking my head.
We met friends at our golf club and arrived a few minutes before them. I immediately ordered an iced tea so that I would already have a drink in front of me when the cocktail menu got dropped off. They are big wine people and I have done many wine dinners and wine tastings with them over the years. They ordered wine, Mr. LHW had a light beer and I had iced tea. My friend then proceeded to tell us how he had been drinking "something like 10 drinks a day" over the past holiday weekend and took the day off from drinking yesterday. They both had 2 glasses of wine. I had a 2nd iced tea, which is probably why I am wide awake now. Need to remember to lay off the caffeine after 4pm. I thanked Mr. LHW when we got home for only ordering a light beer instead of his usual Manhattan. He knows I would never want to take a sip of a beer.
Everyone have a great day today.
