DMV done. Architect done, but have to see him again tomorrow. Interview done, but I’m not interested. No benefits at all and working harder and more often. Won’t work for me.
I got one par golfing, and yes as soon as the sun went behind the mountains, I froze! Agreed, very refreshing.
Home having a soup, pretty good. Took a sleeping pill as the renters above us have 12 kids 8 and under unsupervised thumping and bumping above us. Usually have to go upstairs and ask them to be quiet at 11 pm 🤬🤬🤬

Hi everyone! Joining August thread, if that’s okay. Had about 2.5 years sober (actually thanks in large part to having the support of my January 2018 class) but caved last summer during COVID. I think mainly it was that I was still just miserable because I hadn’t changed other aspects in my life—my job, my relationship in particular. So I gave into an if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em mentality. (I am married to a daily drinker/alcoholic so it was in my face all. The. Time.)
Since that time I’ve changed jobs but still need to deal with relationship and then of course my own patterns to the extent they lead me to unhappiness.
anyhow, read through the prior pages. Sounds like a wonderful group of people to join! Looking forward to supporting one another.
Oh and August 1 was Day 1 for me.

Nice to meet you Citrus and Numblady! August 2021 is the first month of the rest of our lives. We can do this together.
Starting Day 5 feeling refreshed and positive. Sleep is back to normal. Heading to the grocery store to gather a few more healthy food options. The brain seems clearer. Things are pointing in the right direction.
Free2bme888, I envy your daily golf habit. Gave the game up back in my 20s, due to money and time constraints. Used to work on a golf course and loved the beauty and serenity, especially in the early mornings. I can't imagine picking up the clubs now in my 50s, but I suppose it's not out of the question. You've planted the seed in my head.......
Peace and love to everyone today!

Good afternoon, everyone! I hope you are all doing well!
I can't believe retirement is so exhausting! LOL. I don't know how I found the time to do everything when I was working, but I have been at it non stop for the past 4 days. Just got back from playing golf and I did okay.
Anyway, we are getting ready to head out for a weeks vacation with the family of my SO -- all his siblings and their spouses/so's get together once a year in a beach house. We leave on Sunday and from what I understand, there is little to no cell reception and spotty wifi. Designed to make everyone put down the devices and spend time together.
My check-ins might be sporadic as a result but I'll be around the next few days.

Hi All. Welcome to all the newcomers! It's nice to not be the only new kid on the block. This is my first forum ever.
I passed my 8th month sober on Tuesday. It felt good but this is my scary time. My 2 other attempts at a sober recovery this is about when I slipped. I get feeling kinda cocky and think I can have just a couple to relax. It never ends well so I'm reminding myself over and over how sick I got. I've been hospitalized three times and never want to be that sick again.
So thanks to all of you here!! Checking in and reading your stories keeps me feeling like I can do this this time. Your all so supportive!!
So still here and still sober.

Yay to the new members!
I got a par yesterday, that was fun. My second birdie last Friday.
I just started golf less than two years ago, and 1). The “year” here is 10 weeks long, and 2), I was just shy of 57 female when I started.
I’m very competitive with myself, so am determined to figure it out. Lots of laughs. If I was getting paid to golf well I would surely starve.
I love the outdoors, and the reprieve from my sometimes negative thoughts.
Reading, hiking, golfing, skiing, and working. A lot to stay sober for.
How do my classmates like to spend their time, or if drinking used to be your pastime, how would you like to fill that time?
The more time away from the BEAST, the weaker it gets.
