Oh Croutie , it’s just SO lovely to see you. Anniversaries are the hardest to bear. So many memories come flooding but.
im sure your DS and DH are watching over you.
it always makes my day when I see you post.
As our lovely Dee just said, it doesn’t matter what you post and sadness is a part of life.
it certainly doesn’t bring us down sweetheart.
we are just so happy to hear from you and know you are well

Croutie, you always add something to this class. It matters very little if it's something that is a downer. If it is important to you,its important to us. My belief is those that have passed on before us wish us the very best in our remaining journey. I am thankful you have two furry friends. I absolutely love having wonderful blessings like them. God bless.

Well, looks like we'll be getting hit point blank by tropical storm Henri tomorrow into Monday. Not all that bad of a storm. But, our soil here is already saturated. So trees could come down with power outages. No worries I'm all set with a generator and batteries.

Hi Julyers

Hope everyone is ok. love and hugs to all.
PJ, I hope the depression has lifted somewhat.

Croutie love, it’s good to see you. Don’t worry about what you say we’re all here to help each other, as Dee says, we’re one big family.
Many years ago when I was nearly 10 my brother who was 12 years died. I don’t think my dad ever got over him dying. My mum turned to her religion and had hope of seeing her dear son again. My dad, who already drank, drank more. It was 53 years ago but talking about it takes me back like it was yesterday.

I think us being sober helps somewhat.
I know mother and child bond can be strong , I call it the umbilical chord bond.
I think what I’m trying to say is it’s ok to grieve. With time the good memories come through too.
You can smile (or dare I even say laugh) at the wonderful memories you have.

I carry my brother in my heart, as I’m sure you do Croutie, of your DH and DS. They’re a part of us somehow. And will stay there forever.

Bob stay safe in the storm, pleased you’re well prepared.

Love to all, be safe xxxx

Storm wasn't all that bad. Branches and a few tree limbs came down. Never lost power.

Oh man, I tried to post a few times over the past few days and it kept kicking me outttt!

Croutie, my goodness, i am so glad you posted. Even writing out your pain here is cathartic (if it does help, do itttt!!!)…my goodness, we all moan here from time to time - and your grief is new and very real. Like others have said, grief is something we all must feel at some point.

With every year we see another year lost with them and wonder what it might have been like. Hugs dear lady. And please don’t be a stranger, but only post if you want to. Either way, thank you for reaching out.xx

PJ…mate, sorry about the depression. And the hacking pain. I can’t explain it but I got wholloped with the blues a week or so ago. I can’t explain it, but I’m glad you mention yours because we are human. Sometimes things just don’t feel right. Hope the preso went well.

love to you Mags and thank you for talking about your brother. What a loss. It must have been shocking and hard to process for you as a young child. I’m sorry to hear of this.

hugs to everyone. Interesting times for us all. No shame in yucky days.xx

I had to do a presentation at Art School-it went well. As usual about my recovery, based on the Schools buildings, that was once part of a mental asylum, where I started training tobe a psych nurse, then was a patient in the alcohol detox ward, which didn't work, and now as an art student. I am quite open about the alcoholism...

That’s good, PJ. It kind of makes sense maybe it activated some old memories and that put you in the most recent funk?

I suggest this only as I heard Russell Brand mention it tonight and it made sense. To me, anyway. He said one attempt at rehab they made him write down his feelings about events in the past and he had a very bad reaction to it afterwards. His current (or recent) therapist suggested that sometimes re-living old experiences can profoundly affect us and re-traumatise us in some instances.

I kind of had a lightbulb moment. I’m not saying this is the case for you. But as always, I think sharing ideas and perspectives is good on recovery in case it gives some insight.

I definitely think each season of life gives us time to dream or reflect. But the other great point Russell said is that we are no longer those people in that we can advocate for a better life for ourselves. Re parent ourselves and care for ourselves.

I wish us all peace in our hearts.xx
