My mum was from Glasgow. I was surrounded by Scots and Brits my whole life (well, until recently).
When I started school I remember everyone laughing at the way I said "orange". I mean, I thought it was an "orrrrrrrnge", cos that's what my mum said.

I struggle mightily with accents, and I frustrate customers with my inability to understand them at times. It makes me feel badly. Sometimes I have them spell things out. I just tell them that I am hard of hearing.

Good morning, I'm finishing drinking coffee and have the sprinklers started.
Now to floss and brush, take a pile of office supplies downstairs and unload the dishwasher.
I'm keeping myself going by listening to an audiobook, Educated. It is interesting.

Good Morning Overs
Going to mil’s later and having a barbecue. It should be enjoyable. I’m happy having a barbecue as I feel hubby really trusts me now. I usually ruined any we had when I drank and we stopped having and going to them. So I’m happy that he acknowledges, probably without even realising, that I’m not going to be a drunken mess after it.
I hope FBL and toots are enjoying their weekend away with family and friends .

Good morning, Overs!
I’m probably going to be fairly scarce here for the next week. My eldest sister is visiting. I love her dearly. Since I have lived alone for the past nearly 40 years, I find that having a visitor for a week exhausting. Sleep is awful. After I recuperate next weekend, I will hopefully be back to normal!

Good morning Overs,
I went from taking care of my Dad to frantically working on the house to get it rented out to the renters coming so all has changed again.
I had a lovely drive over the Rockies yesterday evening to land with a friend for the night. Today will have some relaxing, organizing and checking out my calendar.
I'm so grateful for friends both online and IRL.

it’s nice to say ‘enjoy xyz’ again as people are able to start doing some things that they are looking forward to.
We are swimming! It is a good thing for the whole family. We get to book out the whole pool in pit complex for 3 hours a week max, but it’s private time in the pool. It’s quite nice!

SE, that pool time sounds lovely.
I managed to take a walk, zoom with my sister and then I took a 3 hour nap. I slept great the other night so I'm not sure why I needed a nap but apparently I did. (I've been taking vitamin D so it probably isn't that.).
Tomorrow, we meet with the social worker of my Dad's facility to evaluate how he is doing. I hope to see the guy too as I really miss him

Had a great weekend trip! Had a nice breakfast and a fun visit with my old college friend. We hadn't seen each other in person for 33 years, so we had a lot of catching up to do. She's still just as delightful as she was back then.
Me and my brother played a lot of disc golf, walked the old neighborhoods, paid respects to the deceased relatives and ate a lot of great food (yes, I totally ignored my diet!). We even went to the old tavern and I bought him a beer (I had a diet coke), but the place just wasn't the same since my dear friend Matt passed away a few years ago. We also had a heart-to-heart talk about my brother's inability to move on with his life after the sudden passing of his wife last year. Hopefully, I gave him some things to think about. All-in-all a fast, but very soul satisfying weekend.
