Anna always says this.....and it is so very true. s ❤️

FF love, with respect, I believe that kind of thinking is very dangerous for a recovering alcoholic.
Indulging the fantasy is not healthy. Even if it's to negate it.

How about making yourself a vision board? With pictures of all of the things you want in your life going forward.
And then making them all come true one by one....give yourself something solid to focus on and think about that is about your healthy and happy future.

You are all rockstars.....let's do Tuesday/Wednesday!!!

Good morning. Hi Strawberry. Welcome Barnaby.

JT-It seems to me that you are more reserved and resolved right now. Just an observation. Hoping the best for you.
FF-I am in complete agreement with Venus. Seems like it would be more satisfying to fantasize about the improvements in your life, sober.
Hope you are doing OK Zura.

We are leaving for my daughter's house tomorrow morning. I know that I will not drink, just has been a long time since I had a sober Christmas. Playing the tape forward on how much better it will be.

Morning All. On to Day 5. Got a good cardio workout yesterday. I set up my bike on a stationary platform and got a ride in. I did have an interesting insight to my drinking yesterday. I ran into a two difficult situations yesterday, which in the past would have led me to a bottle, but as I pondered this my first counter thought was “How is drinking going to help the situation?” It would make no difference to the situation but would give me an hour of alcohol escape until the escape turned into numbness and then feeling crappy in the morning not to mention that it would start a week(s) long bing. This seemed to be a bit of growth for me.

Congrats to everyone on their milestones and welcome Elly B and Barnaby. Zura, I’m sorry for your Daughters loss.

Venus, I really related to your post. Drinking was very tiring to me. I had to sneak out to my hiding hole to take a drink. Figure out an excuse to leave the house to buy a bottle. Figure out which liquor store to go to that I haven’t been for a few days. Figure out how to get the bottle in the hiding hole. Then figure out how to get rid of the empties. All the while trying to hid the fact that I am drunk by working to not appear drunk and keeping people away so they don’t smell my breath. I’m exhausted just writing this. Anyway, have a great day everyone.

Scott-The whole hiding routine was very stressful to me. Actually a big deterrent to me now to avoid the stress.

Sorry for your loss, Zura. Hard on your kiddo. Welcome, Barnaby!
I am still working on ways to deal with stress without drinking. Our heat isn’t working and the puppy keeps pooping on the living room rug because the high tech doggie door isn’t working.Wanted to have a shot at 9 o’clock this morning, but I know that’s just going to make things worse in the long run. Tattling on myself to keep me honest.

Scott, your post is helping with that. I would have to hide extra hard now I am sober in my family’s eyes, and that is extra stressful. I feel like I am starting from scratch when it comes to handling stress.
