Ruthie is ruthlessly running me ragged. LOL She has seemed to be fine with the trip up and her new home. She had a bunch of other dogs at the breeders and now she is getting more attention than she ever had. She seems to already know her name and what no means. Potty training is a work in progress. She didn't have any idea what toys were for. She is slowly catching on - probably didn't have any at the breeders. She absolutely loves being outside though she is a bit timid the farther we go from the house. More tomorrow.
The next Ruthie thing I want to do is to get some video of her doing zoomies. When I get it I'll post a link. I can sometimes induce them by bouncing a golf ball off the sidewalk and into the grass. It is a riot. She is very hard to get good pictures of unless she's sleeping, but I'll keep trying.
Ruthie is training me pretty well how to get her outside so she doesn't have accidents in the house. I'm not so sure she understands that I'm trying to train her. It's funny. If she needs to go she wanders around outside on her own looking for a spot. If she doesn't, she mostly just follows me. She does like attacking leaves that have fallen. Especially when the wind blows them. I can't wait to see what she does when they all fall and they are ankle deep on me and up to her belly.
Mrs and I are working on getting her over needing to be with someone (me especially) every second and the need to be the center of attention. That, I do think she is learning. We're also slowly starting crate training. Mrs dehydrated some sweet potato slivers for treats for Ruthie. She goes nuts for them. We have to be careful with them so she doesn't get too much sugar.
I love sitting in my recliner while she & I nap together. She really doesn't like to be petted when she is resting. She will tolerate it for a while but then move out of reach and conk out.
We gave her a bath (maybe her first) yesterday. OMGosh. When her fur isn't all fluffed up she's no bigger than a large squirrel.

Ruthie is finally getting over needing saomeone with her constantly - after a short, and sometimes loud, objection. Today we will work together outside for a while. She supervising and me doing the labor part. I'm not sure what we will do but we'll find something.
I got some video of Ruthie doing zoomies, but she wasn't in the mood to do them for a long time. Sometimes she will go for 10-15, or more, but yeaterday she would only do a few and then stop.

My daughter & her boyfriend are coming over to meet Ruthless this afternoon. Can't wait to see them.
Ruthie & I processed the fern root we dug up together. I got an idea for an experiment. I want to see if osmunda crowns can be grown hydroponically. If they could, it would remove almost all of the labor intensity of processing the roots. That might make it possible for it to be done commercially.
Today is Mrs birthday. I was going to go to the music store and either find something for her mountain dulcimer playing (she's learning) or a gift card. Then I realized, when she want's something she just goes out and gets it. So a crisp, new $100 bill and a lovey-dovey card instead. Oh, and what she liked most? The two small bags of hazelnut truffles - I only got them so she would have something to open. LOL. No mention of the money, card, or the milk chocolate hazelnut bar - just the truffles.
