The Gilmerites....in memory of Gilmer Part 2
This is the amazing young woman who won The Voice last week....she is deaf in one ear, and it has always been her super-power. She is just so so wonderful.
(This is also my favourite song).

This is my first post on this thread, I wasn't ready until now. I didn't know Gilmer as well as some of you but she was very welcoming when I joined here and she understood what it was like to have serious mental health problems.
She liked the following song so I'm posting it for her
I miss her.

When I first got sober, in 2008, this song and this particular line was incredibly meaningful to me....I had in fact traded a walk-on part in the war (life) for a lead role in a cage. I always figured David Gilmour knew what that felt like, in the same way so many of us did. It was devastatingly lonely and horrendously sad. A truly awful waste of this precious gift we all are given: life.
"Did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?"

I am going through my music library and choosing favourites....or really, letting them choose me. I had a rough morning, feeling very fragile: this song feels just right. s
