The Power Of Sobriety Thread (POST!) #7
Been really busy working on two book projects this week, but I just wanted to share something that happened the other day. A few weeks ago I got an e-mail from a 12 year-old boy in Michigan who said he had one of our older books and was a big fan of Record Research. He said his family would be visiting our area and asked if they could stop by our offices. Well, they all showed up the other day. Turns out the little boy (Thomas) is a special needs child in a wheelchair. He was a little shy at first, but then his Dad brought him over to my desk and we started talking music. The kid really knows his stuff! He so reminded me of me at his age. He had a ton of questions and he asked me how old he had to be to work here! I told him that he should probably finish high school and then we'll talk. After about an hour, I could tell the rest of family was getting antsy, so we had to wrap things up, but it was such a cool and unexpected treat for me. Of course, we gave him our latest book and as they left, Thomas said it was the best day of his life! I don't know if I was still drinking that I would be able to fully appreciate his visit.
, not sure, cannot remember what this thread is all about, so I may be sticking my nose where it doesn't belong. feel free to ignore me, I will just be in the corner here , quiet like,,, mouse,,, shhhhh

FBL - Your young fan’s visit sounds like an incredible experience for both of you. I’m glad you are sober and able to fully appreciate it, and also give your full attention to the company’s fan. Wow!
Stargazer - How awesome you got a boost of energy to reclaim some square footage. You sound like you’re always keeping busy, but it’s nice to complete an extra project or two.
Courage - It sounds like you are hitting your stride with your book?
Have a good Snirt.

Hi and welcome Badgerden!
Up at 2:18 for work this morning. Actually looks like I can cut my grass for the first time in a couple weeks later today. I have found that I have been able to keep more productive by staying offline as much as possible. Once I sit down in front of the computer, I lose hours at a time.
Best wishes for a good weekend all!

Hi, Badge!
Every once in awhile we find we need little readjustments in our sober mindset, or get a special insight about coping in a sober way with life.
That is the basis of the thread. But we just keep up with one another's daily challenges and triumphs, too.
Feel free to lurk--or just jump right in!

FBL, that is a wonderful story.
Welcome, Badge. Please feel free to join the fray. Gilmer explains the thread perfectly. I feel comfortable sharing my recovery journey here.
SG, hope you have a nice day for cutting grass. Haha, my aunt in Pgh told me that it nothing but rain daily and everything is so plush. We're in for a rainy weekend here I've heard. GG, you boogied just in time.
GG, I'm glad you had such a nice visit/vacation in my new home state. I've found the beach to be so pleasing to my mind, body and spirit.
Glee, hope all goes well in your interview process if it comes to pass. I agree with Cour, always nice to have a resume buff regardless.
Cour, how your neck and throat? Hoping that you're the mend.
Up early listening to a Paloma Faith mix. I found out about her from a gym class track a few years ago. She is just full of soul!
I went to see a blues artist at this amazing music venue in St Pete Wednesday night with NE. She's one of NE's favorites.
Well, it's date 5 with NE today. GG, your positive thoughts may be working? We've spent hours and hours together talking and learning about each other, etc. No date, but last night we watched the same movie at the same time...27.2 miles apart. It was fun. The Big Stick - I recommend this flick.
Today we plan to spend the whole day together...well, after the gym with both of us. Rainy day and just playing the vibe, except for cooking dinner together, that's planned.
Have a nice weekend, all.
Carlos

Welcome, Badger. There's no real theme to this thread. Mostly we just talk about what's happening in our daily lives.
Speaking of which, I've got yet another card show later this morning. Will probably start another basketball set.
Have a great weekend, gang!

Yes! Keeping my trainees on their toes has become a fun past time bordering on cruelty. They never know if I am joking, serious or truly going to throat punch someone sometime. Good to be blonde and erratic sometimes!
