Hi everyone. Haven't posted in a while (apart from check in) but always read them all. Well done snufkin, so glad you and bf sorted Jo. Neo, you and your girl are a treat for the eyes. What a lovely pic, I wish you all the happiness.

Glad you are still with us Gabe, I know what you mean about impossible targets and the devil word 'should'. Looking back I think that has caused me to relapse on many occasion. I used to think 'if I didn't drink I would do blah blah blah, then I stopped drinking and didn't do half of it, so may as well drink ......

This time I tried to set myself realistic targets, small daily jobs, which most of the time I do. But I still suffer from the self loathing and self criticising. I know romance is in the air on this thread today but sadly I left my husband at Christmas. I had to for my sobriety and my sanity. But the relationship has left me in a bad way self esteem wise. I can't believe what I tolerated from him. I am trying to move on but it is hard. So many regrets. And sitting here beating myself up for just about everything does not help. I too need to lose weight, have gained a lot since I stopped drinking, and left the marriage, lots of comfort eating going on.

Sorry for the moan, just having a bad day. I am so glad to be sober and clean but I do have trouble forgetting the past. I think I will be single for the rest of my days, can't trust anyone, least of all myself.
Thanks for listening.
Kenton, so happy to finally see your dog, I feel I know him, bless. I left mine with my husband and I miss her terribly.

Hey darling Juliet.....please don't ever be sorry for the moan....and gosh woman, as far as I am concerned, that is a worthy moan. This is a lot honey.....it takes a lot of courage to start over, and gosh, rather than beating yourself up for the mistake, how about congratulating yourself for having the right stuff to move on....the self-care to say I am worth more than this......that is what you are doing honey. One day at a time. You should maybe chat with DreamCatcher: she is in a similar place and flying free.

We don't have to forget the past honey.....best advice I ever got in AA is: you can look back, just don't stare. ♥♥

(((Juliet)))
I hope posting and getting your feeling out have helped a little sweetheart. We often start this journey with a lot of stuff going on and our skills at coping are seriously compromised by our poor addicted brains. Gosh there's a lot of self imposed pressure isn't there? Is it a woman thing or are the guys here like this too? I remember clearly your struggle to break free Juliet. You've come so far. I hope you can continue to seek out the support you need in your journey here. Take care sweetie pie xxx

Jo, it’s a guy thing too. We’re just to proud or stupid to admit it. I know I’ve put a lot of unnecessary pressure on myself and, made a lot of stupid decisions in the recent past. Decisions other than relapsing. I had some help in making these decisions but, the responsibility for them is mine. Hopefully through time, sobriety and, perseverance all of us will figure it out and, get it right.

Neoo, nice picture! The two of you even look like you belong together!

Taking a lil break from online. Too intense for me. Great sober holiday tho, kids and gkids. Still struggling with medical issues, and how we are going to pay up for all. Its real dilemma, for sure. Reading always, just not posting . Luv to All.

24 more please. Lots of unexplained sadness today, urges to drink or drug, missing my old friends after seeing lots of pictures of them all having fun while drinking. My bf and I are both feeling lost and without purpose. Feeling better after some tea but still, a rough day with lots of baseless tears. Thankful that drinking the sadness away isn't a go to for us anymore. I look forward to waking up to a fresh hangover-free morning.

New directions and new purposes for you and your BF will manifest themselves in time; I promise.

Stay the course, dear one.
