Well, my hump-day has been enhanced with a visit to the dentist - lol! I got a root canal treatment done on a molar (that I had one of only two fillings in total) done a few years ago and I was happily munching my dinner yesterday when a huge chunk of the remaining tooth decided to depart from its moorings... luckily for me, there was a cancellation slot at my dentist this afternoon, so she fixed it within 10 minutes - how's that for service?!

If I hadn't had been sober, I would have gone on for days before finding a 'relatively sober' slot to visit the dentist.... and I am sooo glad that's not me now

Fg - That trip to the dentist is a nice sober victory.

InPar - Are you better suited for a different type of job than the one you're doing now?

Morning overs

Congratulations fbl

Andy, it is gorgeous outside, watching all the buds coming out, I love Spring.

FG, pleased you got an appointment so quickly at your dentist. Yes, I love that freedom that we don't have to think when we would be soberish to plan anything, it's brilliant!

I agree, this forum is a place I can come to meet friends and say what I feel, which I wouldn't to people here I know!

Have a great Thursday overs.

Thank you for the messages of support I read all the posts x Congratulations to everyone celebrating milestones too

I was visiting my dad again yesterday brought him some old Jamaica ginger beer all his papers (4) and some sandwiches. Yesterday I felt a bit like his dad, the doctors still don't know what is causing the retention but they figured the medicine for the Water Retention was causing his kidney's trouble so have changed it & he has more tests to do

On a side note when I visited earlier this week with my neice the man opposite my dad threw his food to the ground and apparently my neice heard him say I want to die but yesterday with Mrs sw we heard him refusing antibiotics he had 2 drs round him said he's 94 and he has no one to contact Mrs sw & myself had tears in our eyes at this I shouldn't of been listening but it kinda broke my heart. When he threw his food down that day I instinctively went to clean it up before the nurse kindly looked at me and I realised it was the nurses job

It's a good hospital & the one I was born in so I know it well I'm going to make him ham & mustard sandwiches & I'm visiting him again tomorrow.

The only reason I'm not going today is because I have a root canal appointment at my dentist this morning my dad told me to be a brave little soldier lol !

Storm Doris has arrived but oddly enough there's some sun in the sky

Speak after everyone

Good luck at the dentist wolfie love.

I know, this is just incredibly hard ~ but you are doing a wonderful job.
It's pretty rough on us when the tables are turned, and we feel like the parent.
But you and Mrs w are doing it all with so much love, care and compassion.
You should be very proud of yourselves.

We love you.

Good luck with the dentist, Wolfie. I've had some major dental work done since getting sober and none of it was actually as bad as I'd imagined. We do get a role reversal with aging parents for sure.

Hope you're feeling a bit better today, dear Suze.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I never get tired of sober anniversaries

Well, we're back to normal weather for this time of year. Possible snow by the weekend. It felt like summer yesterday and I got some nice long walks in this week, so it's all good.

Have a Thunderous Thursday, overs!

Same from me Wolfie. Good luck at the dentist.

I bet your dad is loving the food your taking him in.
I would've wanted to pick the other gentlemen s food up too!
It's sad when people have no one in their lives. So sad.

Hmmm - we seem to be having Overs' Dental Week. FG and Wolfie, glad you got your dental work over with.

When i look back, spending time with my elderly parents before they died enriched my life and has greatly affected how I view them in retrospect. I wasn't particularly close with them until the last few years. That time was stressful but now I see it as a gift.

Have a lovely Thursday, Overs!

I'm having dental work done too. They took impressions for the second permanent bridge on saturday which was a painful process, after having the tooth extracted last month I've had a temporary one in. Having a root canal as soon as this bridge is in. But I've had two major problems fixed in the last four months which is like a miracle because the problems started when I was drinking and I could never afford the work until now.
Glee in answer to your question I am absolutely suited for other types of work. This is challenging but not in the way that I like.
Wolfie it's so nice that you can be there for your dad. That poor old man. Maybe you could bring him a sandwich? Poor old guy.
It was pretty nice here too yesterday. It was cold but seemed summery. I walked the dog in a sun shower.

I'll join the parade: I broke off part of a crown by biting into a cheeseburger (?)!

Every time my tongue brushes against it, it cuts.

So tomorrow morning I'm going to the dentist.
