Class of October 2016 Support Thread Part 4
Hey everybody! I hope you're doing well.
I fell off the wagon again, night before last. Got pretty emotional about something and couldn't seem to relax or calm myself down for long. My brother called me and had some soothing words, but by that time if was too late.
I'm feeling better now, but I'm pretty disappointed in myself. I'm averaging about 1 slip per month. Think I need to check out AA and get a sponsor.
Sorry October folks.

Hi Suzy glad you're back.
You've pretty much got a handle on getting sober - now you need to work out how to stay that way...don't lose heart
Widening your plan to include something like AA sounds like a great idea

Hi Suzy,
Glad you came straight back. I think it makes it easier to not slip back into the habit. Do whatever you need to in oder to stay safe and sober.
Strangely yesterday was the first time I was really tempted to drink for ages.
I've been all over the holidays with a lot of people that have been drinking a lot, and a couple of us not at all - it's actually put me off more than anything.
Yesterday though I had a weird incident with a guy following me - I managed to get rid of him.
Then I thought it would have been nice to have a drink and calm the nerves - ended up having a chocolate eclair instead - but it was close.

It's good news that you've come right back. And a testament to your will to quit. We've read about many people who have slipped and turned it into weeks, months or years before coming back.
Thank God that you came right back! I used to say that when I fall off the wagon , the wagon keeps going and it takes me a while to catch back up to it! I'm glad that's not the case for you. Tom
Thanks so much everyone for welcoming me back!
I had to go to the grocery store the afternoon I was upset & bought more chocolate for myself than I think I ever have at once before. Good advice teaorcoffee, next time I'll eat the chocolate.

mmmm, I love dark chocolate. I think one of my favorites is the lindt excellence chilli. But it's too good to snarf the whole bar in one sitting. Just one square a night.
I have plenty of other sweet things on hand.....

Good job DNM and Suzy too.
I'm coming back from a holiday back into the normal routine.
I was worried about being around wine all the time, but it wasn't too bad really, I actually was more put off wine by the way others were drinking and managed to find time for myself when I needed to.
Now I'm back, I'm putting plans together for the week, so that I know what I'm doing after work, etc - I find that helps to keep me on track.
