One Year and Under Club Part 56
I hope you hear good news OT. What a great accomplishment!
Kopfan, I find it amazing how our self image changes as we acquire more and more sobriety.
Bandi, I totally get you not digging your old favorite restaurant. There are a lot of things sober me just doesn't enjoy anymore that drunk me did. I love discovering new things, ideas, places and thought patterns. It makes daily living exciting again.

Happy belated birthday bandicoot! I would not have enjoyed a wine pairing dinner. I think I would have had to totally disengage in order for it to not be triggering. Seeing other people's behavior drunk is sobering in itself though.
Thanks for the birthday wishes!! -
Babs....we're Adulting -.
Stargazer, it IS very empowering to engage fully in life now & to think about the future. What a concept!
Nmd, it was both sobering & annoying. I hope I'm not becoming a sober snob?

hi guys ! Just came in from shoveling snow again. H and I went out together and then the neighbor joined in. It was really not all that bad. Not much of a wind just cold it's about 14 above 0 right now so, really not all that cold. and to top it all off the fresh air felt good. I've been going to a PT for my back so, I hope that I did more good than harm.
Anyway--Have a great day ---I just put a beef roast in the oven so, going to have a nice dinner later on. all the pushing and shoveling of snow made me hungry.

Hello world.
Yesterday marked six months for me. I ran (well - ran some, walked some) the local half marathon. Didn't set any speed records but recovery sure is easier without having systematically dehydrated yourself by drinking too much in the weeks leading up to the race . . .
I've hung around the June 2016 class thread for awhile, and still am, but thought I'd branch out over here as well as a "treat" for getting to six months. I hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to holidays that you will actually remember.

TryingInTexas- Congratulations on 6 months sober! That is wonderful. I am 6 months sober too. I have done two 5 k's during that time....that is awesome about the half marathon. My class starting slowing down so I am reading on here too. Lots of good stuff.
Hey Trying, ( not going to shorten your name to initials as I sometimes do!) welcome to the Undies.
Bandi, it seems everywhere insists that we are not smart or sophisticated enough unless we have alcohol added. I was shopping for Christmas things this week... Chocolates?? Yeah, but try our special liqueurs. Christmas pudding... Oh yes madam, we have them with added sherry and brandy. Christmas cake?? Of course, right this way... Our nicest ones have brandy sherry and cider ( that's the British alcoholic cider of course!)and how about some mince pies with the fruit soaked in port? want some cream on them? Certainly we have cream with brandy, cream with baileys, cream with Cointreau ......
Yeah, gets so you don't even have to drink the alcohol at Christmas, it's tough enough trying not to eat it!!

Welcome TryingInTexas!
Toots, I love holidays at the OFH - it doesn't take much alcohol to get people tipsy here so that means that lots of people are too busy trying to act sober to notice anyone not drinking
