Thumpa - Great recovery plan you're fleshing out. I was reminded tonight at my home group meeting of the recovery rule of thumb -- if it's a day of the week that you would have drank, then it's a day that you should work on recovery!

I don't have the luxury of going to a meeting every day I'd like to, so I'm glad I can come here!

I heard a song on the radio on the way home tonight. When I stopped drinking I was working with preschool aged children who napped every day. We'd turn off the lights and play easy listening music. The song on the radio tonight was on popular rotation during my early recovery.

I've been thinking often about the anhedonia I felt during those early days. I felt so dull. Everything seemed beige. It lasted for quite a while. When others would assure me that it would get better, I assumed it was by settling for a dull life. That's just not the case. AA helped me find ways to see color again and enjoy my life!

Lean on all the resources that come your way!

I agree, Glee. That idea about settling for a dull life was a big AV "selling point". Just another one that needs demythifying!!!

"Beige" and "dull" are apt descriptions of early recovery life. I felt so flat and unmotivated for long stretches. Boy, alcohol sure made my life exciting!

I am liking the new "dull" compared to the previous craziness.

Thumpa, glad to hear it went well! A solid plan that is our very own is critical.

Some great posts here. I'm not able to check into wifi too easily where I am at the moment, but will read when I can. Back at the weekend so will probably annoy all y'all then!

Hi undies.
Just checking in.
Vander sorry for your loss.

I love how much support there always is here. It's so great to read thru posts and see all of the positivity.
I just got back from a little trip to the mountains for some hiking with my dog. Did about 15miles. She's passed out on top of me right now. I've been hiking a lot still and feel much healthier when I get out in the trails with my little sidekick.
Back to wompland tomorrow for me

Hi BFree! It sounds like hiking is very, very positive for you, most especially in the midst of everything else. What a terrific activity.

Good morning everyone. Not much new with me. I'm pretty busy with work and still working on my exercise program. I'm so grateful that I have been able to keep sober for this long and definitely plan on staying this way.

Eight months is awesome WWS! You can start to see what life without alcohol really is about by now.

WWS, it just keeps on getting better :-). I'm rarely tempted now and love my sober life too much to spoil it.
