Checking in now because tomorrow is another doozy. Did you know that strawberries are low on the glycemic index? That means you get a hit of sweet without a hit to your blood sugar. In fact, most berries are your best bet if you are sensitive to sugar.
I'm staying sober today because oh, it makes me soooo happy. My best to all my friends out there- and hugs to those who are struggling.
9:35 PM and time for sober bed- my FAVORITE!!! Hot Massachusetts.

Coming here to share tonight. I don't know where to put this but I feel closest to all of you so I'm bringing it here.
Some of you know that my ex-husband was (is?) a sex addict. I was in a 12 Step program for partners of addicts (COSA) where I met some phenomenally amazing women. I'm no longer active in that group but those women still remain part of my extended family. I got word this weekend that the husband of one friend in that group committed suicide. He left behind an heroically understanding & supportive wife as well as 8 year old twins. He had recently relapsed and the pain of his addiction was tragically too much for him to overcome.
To make matters worse (if that's possible), this man was a premier & respected sex addiction counselor in the area with his own practice he opened to help others. His wife worked along-side him helping partners and families. So now their clients are left to pick up the pieces as well.
I've been very triggered by this and have struggled mightily tonight. I haven't been tempted to drink - I've just been so very sad about addiction in general. It robs us of our best & brightest and for that I'm devastated. The only way I've been able to get re-centered has been to just sit with my feelings. Then I began to wish him peace wherever he may be. It has helped.
Peace.
Over & over again.
I hope more than anything tonight that he is finally at peace.
We all struggle with battles few (if any) know anything about. We're only as sick as our secrets, friends. If you are struggling, PLEASE reach out to someone - anyone. I promise you someone else is battling the same demon and understands your pain. Together we are stronger. Together we can survive, thrive and beat the beast of addiction.
Wishing you all peace tonight - especially for my friend.
Goodnight, dear friends.

I'm glad you come here too Hearts.
We can never really know whats in someones mind - which is why I'm so thankful for SR. It's a place to talk, to vent, and to heal.
This thing can rob us of so much - it makes me even more glad for those of us who find recovery, a new beginning, a lasting peace - and pass it on.
Prayers for your friend and all who loved and knew him.
