Class of March 2013 Part 40
I know! I use many Scottish-isms even though I am a sassenach. I remember the first time I spoke to lifetplant, she was surprised I sounded English even though she knew I was, for some reason she expected me to sound Scottish!
Marcher I hope your mum is okay, my mate Dolly gets a reaction every year.
North good to see you even fleetingly, look forward to a longer update when things slow down for you.
Hey Shoes, how's things with you now?
Well my pain in the neck is officially a pain in the neck, I am sick and fed up of feeling sick and fed up. Poor Molly hasn't had a proper walk or run since Sunday as moving around does literally make me feel queasy with the pain. And I hate myself for being a snivelling wretch!
Trachy, I saw a picture on The Lighter Side that made me think of you! Go look. Haha
Sass, thanks for the PM, will write back when I'm less pathetic.
Babs did you win big at the casino??
WeHave, I am glad you and J had a good talking weekend, it certainly helps to talk about what bother you when it's not bothering you because then you can talk without the emotions getting in the way. It also makes us more open to listening and considering solutions. I may have mentioned before that in the past I have actually emailed Mr T at times when I needed to get my words out there but couldn't manage a confrontation. Have you anything planned for after the wedding? Have you a honeymoon? So often nowadays people ( women especially) focus so much on the big day, that they can actually feel depressed afterwards, so it is important to give yourselves something special to look forward to a little further down the line.
Budd, I hope you get some time to breath, when do things ease up at work?
Gilmer, sorry for calling you Filmer it is the auto correct and I always forget to spell check before posting. Whatever I call you sweetie, I call you friend first. X
Hugs everyone

Good morning Marchers It's sunny and blue in Paradise, I'm off to the shop shortly leaving Mr Marcher at home today. Mum's fine, like Toot's friend Dolly she just had a flu-shot reaction but poor old Mr Marcher is in a bad way with his arthritis pain. He tried a different drug this week -- which didn't send him crazy -- but unfortunately it didn't make much difference.
Some of you may remember that we originally planned to go to Prince Edward Island for my 60th? Well we dropped those plans, there is no way Mr M could do the long haul flight in economy class, business class was way too expensive and when I checked out short hops it worked out to be almost as expensive.
I was philosophical about that, I might go by myself some time if we can't get Mr M's pain levels down. So months ago I booked a cooking class with a friend which is on this Saturday. I'm pretty excited -- it's sourdough and yoghurt making etc but the class is over an hour away and we have a workshop in the shop on Saturday ... and Mr Marcher is in a bad pain patch. I already have our part-timer working on Saturday but .... I hope I don't have to cancel again.
Gilmer I think I am where you were a couple of weeks ago. I'm teary and feeling a bit fed up, hell I'm feeling a lot fed up. I really needed to have a whinge peeps. It's just plain old disappointment that I might have to cancel aagain. Sometimes it's a bit tough running a business and a household and partly caring for two people.
I'm OK though.
And I hope you have a good day.

We've come for a much-needed midweek getaway to the mountains. As soon as we walked in the door, we were greeted with a horrific stench: the refrigerator had broken, and all the meat rotted. All the frozen stuff melted and spread into a gooey mass.
Well, we cleaned it, and my husband amazingly had a spare part on hand to fix it (it breaks regularly). (I'm posting while he works on it). Next time this happens we break down and buy a new one.
Fortunately, at dinner I had two cups of coffee, so I'll be able to stay awake quite well for the restorative late-night TV watching. We are watching a really fun British show called Death in Paradise, which is about a snobbish and nervous English police inspector who is transferred to a Caribbean island.
It is somewhat the same premise as Doc Martin; but I actually prefer this show. All the characters on this show are likable and competent, whereas I found every single character on Doc Martin annoying (except, of course, the dog)!

Awww, Gilmer, you sound sooo disappointed :-)
Toots, how are you doing?
I'm caught up on reading Posts on this great thread but haven't had much chance to respond. Will hopefully have some breathing room after this week is over. The old folks' home is busier than my previous life!

Sass it might be an "old folks" home but you are sounding wonderfully fresh and young. Gilmer I'm glad the fridge has been retired!
I spoke too soon re Saturday, I should have hushed my mouth here. Mr M is made of pretty stern stuff and he's not taking Saturday off "for anything" I am told. Additionally our lovely employee has arranged for her daughter to come in should Mr M be below par. When her daughter was in her teens she worked for us for two years, she's now 25, so she knows the ropes (or frames).
V how goes your Dad?

Marcher: So, it sounds like your plans are back on and the shop is covered? Good for you! Hug Mr. Marcher for displaying such a winning attitude! Having fun and enhancing those excellent cooking skills...what a great way to spend a day in honor of your 60th! By the way, our weather this morning here in Colorado is sounding a lot like yours. Blue skies, sunshine, and little to no chance of rain - mid 70's for the highs.
I am heading out soon with a friend to visit several of our local garden centers and then we will have lunch. I am quite looking forward to the day.
Gilmer: I believe I have seen an episode or two of Death in Paradise and it is enjoyable, but have to disagree, Doc Martin tops it in my book....lol... to each his/her own... I am currently watching Midsomer Murders to relax at night... I realize the setting for shows are the number one draw... and I am loving the English gardens and homes, just as I enjoyed the countryside where Doc Martin was filmed. There is just too much sadness and tragedy on the local and national news these days... I cannot bear to watch much of it, and need a virtual escape.
Toots:: Sending healing thoughts your way that the neck begins to feel better very soon!
Sass:: How wonderful that you get the opportunity to be busy and to be a contributing member of your residence at the same time. I am sure you are meeting more and more people through being involved, as well.
Greetings to any Marcher I may have missed.

1Day, I looked it up--and just as I figured, Doc Martin was the first of its kind. Death in Paradise came way later. I admit, it seems like a knockoff of Doc Martin, with a different cast. I just like the islanders much better than the villagers.
Then again, I only watched two shows of Doc Martin, so I didn't wait long enough to see the villagers' characters develop. In fairness, I ought to watch a full season's worth before I judge!

I very much enjoy Doc Martin :-). Sometimes even the doc shows other sides. The show with his parents really provided good insight into the causes of his behavior! Some of the other characters do, imho, develop more depth.
