Bliss within, I was ashamed when I came back after my screwup. Just pick right back up again. Remember how guilty you feel and write it down somewhere. A journal, here, something so you can remind yourself what you don't want to do to yourself.

Day 6 down. Asked a member of my AA group to help me with starting step work.

Asked me to read pages 84 to 88 in the big book. And call him in the morning when I get to work. This will be my first real attempt at starting step work.

Excited? Check. Nervous? Check!

I'm off to bed. Sleep well everyone.

I'm on day 11. Still finding it a struggle. I guess I always will though, right?

I believe I already mentioned in my first post that I'm using a combination of AA meetings and the Allen Carr method to quit, _
Hi drywhistle.. I used the Allen Carr easyway book to help me stop smoking 8 years ago.. absolutely brilliant. I found stopping smoking harder than stopping drinking, I was a 40+ a day woman. I have the stopping drinking book but it hasnt helped me as much, I may have another read now I have seen your post and you have triggered my memory. Thanks.

I read somewhere that first recovery gets difficult, then it gets better, then it gets really WEIRD before a person feels normal again. Im yet to discover that weird phase.

Early recovery is rough no two ways about it. We drank for years, most of us...it takes a little while for mind and body to sort themselves out.

Once they do tho, things get a lot better

Noone would stay in recovery if they thought they lost out on the deal SansaS

Day 11, slept right through, done my exercises for the first time in months. Like Arbor8 my appetite has been crazy, from not hungry at all all day to cramming sweets like a mad woman. Seems to have settled down this morning, in fact I think I feel 'normal' not irritated, just calm and going about the day with a smile and a warm heart. Thanks for all the posts, I read them first thing every day and it gives me things to think about as the day progresses, day 11 rocks, good luck for today everybody

I too am very irratable but I'm a miserable sod anyway! That's what drink does to you.

Good luck today all and look forward to a headache free morning tomorrow.

Hi guys, checking into this October class after failing (yet again) in the September one. I've pretty much flunked every class since May, but I have learned things along the way and I believe I am getting stronger and better at this. I have been considering AA and still am, but I'm aware of it perhaps being not quite the right fit for me, so I'm working on AVRT for now. If things start to feel out of control, if/when I get scary-strong urges, I will go straight to an AA meeting and see what I think from there.

I'm one week sober today. I've given myself a few tools to work with and I'm building on these daily. Glad to be here with you all

Happy Thursday Octsober group! Day 9 for me. This is the longest I have been sober in probably 20 years! My poor liver...ugh! I can only hope I stick to this. I'm trying so hard. The AV drives me crazy at times but I am staying strong.

I welcome the newcomers! Even if you don't post on SR...read it daily as you will see you are not alone. It has helped me realize I am not alone.

Congrats countrygirl on 10 day! I'm proud of you!

:-)
