24-Hour Recovery Connections - Everyone Welcome - Part 6
Congrats to all with anniversaries !!
Was up in middle of night posting on these forums cuz I"ve been having some anxiety (and therefore cravings) due to some stress.
But being strong cuz I know that using alcohol/weed would not be wise. It causes way too many weird and terrible problems for me.
9:00 a.m. NY......plans to stay sober for 24 more. Robin

Now let's start another 24.
Wishing you all a peaceful day.

10:02 am and I am in for another sober 24 hours.
I just spent the early morning hours making grocery bags at the food bank in the heat (it's a small warehouse with no AC) for home bound folks.
It makes me very grateful to be able to work, leave my house, afford food and also for my AC. Service to others is a good way to get out of ourselves and count our blessings. It's like having a mini gratitude list in action. I truly believe that doing volunteer work is what kept me from hitting a lower bottom with my alcoholism.
Those of you who are new and in AA are probably being encouraged to do service work for the fellowship but if you are not in AA, try volunteering somewhere....it's a great way to forget your problems and get out of your head (especially in early sobriety) and also a good way to make new friends who have interests other than drinking and drugging.

I will have to reset my sobriety date to July 4. In a weak moment last Thursday I drank wine, and then to just make it worse I woke up Friday with a cold and sore throat. Beginning to get over the virus, but heartsick over what I've done. So with spotted tail between legs, calico here commits to the next 24 hours. 2:28 pm in Texas.
Don't do what I did. Not worth it!
Prayers for all,
calico

14 months sober (Melbourne time) today so I'm off to an extra meeting.
Hope we can all meet today's challenges and avoid paying the piper down the track.....
