Sobriety Limericks Part 6
I was broken then, I was lost
Lying in pieces
I was giving up slowly
I didn't want to die
But I didn't know how to live
I asked the universe "How will this end?"
Fate intervened in the form
Of a lost connection
Not the voice of a stranger
It was a sign, it was an answer
The one I'd been seeking
The one for which I had asked
I am afraid now, I am forlorn
I still can't find my way
Connections lost
Now to times' deadly march
I'm paying the price
For giving over my life
I should have swam for the nearest shore
A long time ago
I knew it even then.
Pay attention!
My heart tried to tell me
It was too hard to be worth it
Lying in pieces
I was giving up slowly
I didn't want to die
But I didn't know how to live
I asked the universe "How will this end?"
Fate intervened in the form
Of a lost connection
Not the voice of a stranger

You are a fighter a thinker a loving dear friend
Helping to save us from alcohols end
For if you had swum to that far distant shore
You probably still would be looking for more
Your peace with yourself when sobriety started
Showed us dear Elsy ,so sweet and kind hearted
This is no picnic we each find our way
Tomorrow will be a much better today
We falter we fall with our sadness profound
Stand on two feet and feel the firm ground
For since you dropped by our lives are enhanced
From the day you saw new poems you had glanced
You could swim to that shore , you never would sink
You've pulled yourself up and had time to think
What a true gift we have since sobriety rose
On your past life shut that door let it close
Love you Elsy xx
Your poems bring me such joy, no matter what mood , bless xx

Zero, writer evocative
Of a bruised and wounded soul,
I find his words provocative
Of endearment, when he's on a roll.
He wrings my heart and makes me smile
All in the very same line.
Sweet and kind without any guile,
He's making these boards sit up and shine.

All this talk of love and friends
There's something here, that rhyme transcends
We see our souls echo here
Within the friend we hold dear
And in that love, we make amends
Amends for hurt caused and wasted life
Caring more for drung of choice, than being wife
Or husband, lover friend
List of people hurt seems not to end
But one hurt most, is self, through years of strife
Arguing with self for fun, when deep inside
We knew payment must be made for this ride
All that time of pleasing self
Destroyed more than physical health
And now is time to face it; not to hide
And in our pain we cry out here in rhyme
hurt we caused to those we love, remembered every time
We suffer for that pain it never ends
Self flagellation helps but doesn't mend
Forgiveness, love, support, writ large in every line
That's what helps a bleeding soul to heal
To know some one feels the way we feel
Sees the darkness in us
But can see goodness too and love us
Here, we can move forward on life's ever turning wheel

Wow Snooze, I'm impressed, have you learned to Twerk
It really must be something, to see that fat ass work,
I'd love to see
It bounce so free
Do many men come lurk??
Does it have a rhythm, of it's very own?
When you stop, is there a while that your butt carries on?
Does the class
Leave room for your arse
Or do they 'bump' and groan?
Sorry Snoozy, but let's face it, you expect nothing less from me!!!! Lol

Love it ...crackin up here lol
Haven't got into the twerk
Sounds to me like too much work
Wiggling here gyrating there
High heel shoes onto my chair
The audience just went berserk
Throwing 50s on the floor
They were beckoning for more
Did some dancing on my pole
Thought I had achieved my goal
Til pensioners walked out the door
Muttering that was a doozy
Did you see that ole floozy
Thought she was gods gift to men
We better go to check again
Beggars they just cant be choosy
OMG that's her its snoozy

Sorry Elsie
I have to keep apologising for lowering the tone
But snoozy keeps feeding me lines that I can't leave alone
I know I should show maturity, I'm nearly 50 now
But if I try to keep it in, I just might have a cow
I let my inner child run free, though I'm a woman grown!

Ah, Elsie, I would not joke here
If for one moment, I did fear
That I might upset you
Or cause other poets to stew
Your sense of fun shines clear!
Zero seems you had near miss
With large lady, seeking kiss
Shaking bootie
( not catching cooties!)
Almost caught in drunken bliss!
