Congratulations to Deeker on you first sober birthday. What an accomplishment. Thank you for all you do and may God keep you in the palm of His Hand.

The Great Escape
When I tried to escape life through my drinking and drugging I was creating a life that
was unrealistic, living behind a mask and then I was trying to live within it.
The next day I was always faced with the true reality of who I was and what the real
circumstances of my life were. I was living a lie.
Because of escaping through drinking and drugging the reality of my life was more
difficult to face with each and every day.
I became less able to deal with it because I wasn't growing spiritually and emotionally.
The more I escaped the less maturity I had and the less tools I had to deal with life
on life's terms. Then the overwhelming anxiety sets in. And it starts all over again with
the drinking and drugging.
Every time I escape I am weakening my personality, my character and my mental
and emotional stability. I begin to lose who the real me is. And now I am believing the
lie, the fascade.
What I am when I am drinking or drugging is someone who refuses to grow up and face
life like most every other mature adult on this planet.
If I am to grow up emotionally and spiritually I need to feel the feelings I am going
through and learn new ways to cope. I can't escape with every little uncomfortable
feeling or emotion.
Difficult times are what make us stronger as a person.
Are we still escaping or are we going to walk through all our feelings and learn
and grow from them today clean and sober?

I'm afraid I just blew almost 60 days of sobriety, and have learned a very valuable lesson via the hangover to end all hangovers. Today is day 2 of a happier life ahead.
I am signing up for 24 hours of sobriety please.
