Frances.... happy Birthday hun!!! (I take it belly button birthday refers to a real age related one, new expression for me) Mwah!

Also, Frances, on seeing the news about Boston I thought of you and hope that all of your friends are safe....I know you may have had some friends running?

Hypo....I started working in the alcohol & drug field just over 6 months ago as a peer support specialist, prior to that I was in the mental health field as a PSS. Prior to that I was recovering from my own addiction and mental health challenges(clinical depression) and was working as an Optician. Big change, not only salary wise, but it is somethign I am passionate about! The big bucks are not what drives me. And yes its very cool!

And yes, Dee & Hypo, if I let myself I do know that I make a difference. I am fortunate enough to be able to do that.

Take care you lovely Overs

Thanks for the birthday wishes and thanks Manz for your concern.

All my friends who were running Boston or spectating were not hurt and got home safely.

XO

:day Frances!

RZ no, I regrettably threw away my polyester big collar safari jacket style bell bottom leisure suit, and my matching white platform shoes and white belt. However, my fist laserdisc music video was The Moody Blues Legend Of A Band made in 1990 originally, well past the leisure suit 70s. In the 80s we wore unconstructed jackets in lemon yellow with the sleeves pushed up a la Miami Vice. I bought the pioneer laserdisk in the late 80s to add Karaoke to my DJ show on weekends. It also made editing custom humor tapes easy with pitch changes, reverb, and editing cues for CDs. Alas, I also sold the Laserdisc and Karaoke system in the late 90s and to this day do not like karaoke. Or polyester clothes!

Soon we will all join Itchy in the clouds, and gradually forget about DVDs too. Maybe they can be recycled into polyester leisure suits...

Still, I have to admit that I'm not entirely happy with the speed of technological progress. As a child, pop culture led me to believe I would have my own personal hovercraft by now. A jet pack at the very least.

Recovery comes pretty close, though.

Happy b-day, frances!

The white belt and platforms are a loss of items of important cultural significance.

Woot!

Making today a great day. You can too!

Had a funny moment in parking lot where I thought about white wine, and the to-the-end story went:

hm. so sweet. and icky. and will make my head hurt. besides, would have to go buy it. what a waste of money. canyoubelieve how many calories are in booze? then what will I do with the rest of the bottle?. stoopid idea. where'd I park the car? oh there it is.

total elapsed time: 5 seconds. lol

I think this qualifies as non-drinker-thinking

Ha frances, I love it. My drinking thoughts are similar..their like, 'Mmmm...I wish I could lose myself in some wine and smokes, and just forget about my problems for ONE NIGHT'.
'Yeah, shut up.'
'Ok.'
lol

I hear ya Instant. And sobriety also keeps making me take responsibility for myself and suck it up. Its a persistent little thing! Ha. I can't lie to myself much anymore. Usually that's great. (Well I guess its always great.) But sometimes it is hard! But I'll get used to it.

I really want a Jetsons car....and the dog! That is all..... oh and the maid...now that really is all

FYI...a NZer actually developed a jetpack that works...true story...now they just need to make it a bit smaller.

The following smilies I take abosolutely no responsibility for...they are courtesy of Weeman...... LOL
