(flying saucers are also sweets, not some strange withdrawal reaction I am having along with the headaches!)
Tazzle well done on driving past your usual haunts for alcohol purchases.
TTBABP - Sherbert Lemons are the devils work and lead to much dental work - walk away now, don't look back!
Mittens - hopefully headaches will end soon, thanks for the thought.

I am going to attempt to get off here in the next 15 minutes and not be tempted by the success stories thread again tonight......or the fact that "Dub" is driving across the US and people are concerned for his safety. Honestly, it is all riveting stuff, am so glad I am sober, i would have missed out on so much news.

If you catch me on here later - give me a nudge to get off and get some sleep
Niters Bernie!

Hi Bernie, and thank you for all your kind words, really means alot, I calmed down and went and had some food and didn't bugger off in the car to stock up, thanks.

Hope this doesn't come out maahoosive, Kia is the staff, Sheba is the Boxer and little Pixel is 1/4 Jack Russell and 3/4 Pug. Pixel Kia are rescues and the Boxer we paid for but got her out of a really crappy house which I know isn't what you're supposed to do nut there was no way we were leaving her in that place!

thanks again everyone :ghug3

this is one of Kia taken this morning, she was such an amazingly good dog, fantastic with the kids, would recommend a pure Staffie to anyone with a loving home.

What a beautiful girl, Napster. You're right, they are special dogs Did she have her tail? My husband and I watched a Staff for a few months and always had bruises on our legs because of all the tail wagging she did. The tip of her tail was permanently swollen from all that wagging - she was constantly whipping it against things but it didn't stop her tail haha! We called her ol whippy tail lol. Very happy dogs, and very sweet friends. Take it easy tonight.

Bernie & Ready stop with the delicious sounding stuff that I know nothing about. It makes me want to fly over and eat. Bernie I do not think I could walk away from the lemons - sound way too good

Napster - your dogs are adorable. Once again so sorry about Kia but clearly she had a good life with you.

Hey WiFi - you must be busy. Glad you're still finding time to pop in though.

Girlfromco - I keep meaning to mention how much I love your avatar.

Have a great night (day) everybody!

Napster, you were on my mind throughout this day. You obviously have a deep capacity to love...I'm sure there are those who are VERY grateful to have you in their life. Thanks for sharing the pictures of Kia....nothing or no one can ever take those precious memories away from you.

Hugs, Kat:ghug3

Hi everybody. I arrived safely and EARLY in NYC. Didn't drink in transit, & got home to find my son had made a vague attempt to clean up the apt after being here a week on his own. So all told, much to be thankful for.

Napster, I'm thinking of you. All the dogs look lovely and your affection for them just shines through your posts. You have a great spirit, I'm so glad you're sharing it with us instead of drowning it in booze.

Hi folks. A week ago today was my last drink. At this time a week ago I was passed out (to wake up soon and begin again). Yuck.

I've really noticed how much more time I've got, I think some others have touched on that in here. I was always whinging before about how time-poor I am (eg the good old saying "When you're young you've got plenty of time and no money, when you're middle aged you've got plenty of money and no time, when you're old you've got money and time but you're not young enough to enjoy it"). Well, I guess I know now where I've been putting all my time!

It's also hit me how much cleaner the house is in a week without me doing much extra cleaning-wise.

OK, back to to put my nose to the grind-stone, need to get an assignment finished today. I'm very pleased (and proud) that I actually have put my effort into doing the assignment, and not gone running to the bottle shop in order to forget about it. Though the urge is there Acknowledging it and moving on though.

I feel strong in my sobriety, especially after Christmas Day.In a way I'm pleased I quit in early Dec as feel stronger now when in presence of wine having got through Xmas. I'm going to have a short gym session first before they arrive at 1,00pm.

Happy sober Saturday everyone.I'll check in later.x

Just checking in, I was so close to throwing the last 6 days away today, triggers were everywhere. I fought it most of the evening. Today would have to be the hardest yet, knowing how much I'd hate myself in the morning and being full of regret was really the only thing that stopped me and even then, at times that didn't feel enough...But I did it.

I hope days like this are few and far between.

Courage - pleased you made it back safely and sober

Alice - Welcome

Ready - I can't wait to have a few more days under my belt. 29 days seems like a lifetime away, Congrats on your 29, you sound very strong, its encouraging.

Anyway I'm off to get some sleep.

Take Care all

Oh Napster, she was gorgeous! That second picture has caught her eyes filled with unadulterated love that only dogs have! I love Tazzles description of a "puppy pile". She clearly was a gem, you were both very lucky to have found one another. And as for Pixel..........it's official, I am newly in love. She looks wonderful, whilst my heart is always with Border Terriers (I have one) pugs are my second love, and to have one mixed with a jack must be the best mix. One day..... <<she wishes dreamily>>.
Tazzle - thanks for reminding to leave the forum last night - thanks to that I had a great nights sleep again and have awoken with only a mild headache this morning.
Ready, good luck with the meal - meals and food in general are so much nicer and more attractive without alcohol, have you noticed? Of course you have......kola cubes rock! May I also add sherbert bonbons to the mix?...ooh and Space Dust! Suspect we are close to a similar age....or general mentality!
TTBABP - come join - introduce us to some tasty morsels from your neck of the woods!
AliceTW - hello, we are close in days so well done for making it. How's the head?

Pretty quiet day here, dog walk later, christmas tree coming down and off for recycling and general de-xmas clutter and pile of ironing. Taking it easy.
Will call in later.

In the meantime, I want more pictures of Pixel - what a complete sweetie!
xxx

Napster I saw the comments and looked back - what adorable babies I love my animals

Thank you for the welcomes Elly - wow you did an awesome job today! Sounds like a really bad day, I'm given a bit of hope when I see stuff like that

Hiya Bernie I am doing pretty good so far. I've got some meds from the doctor and am following a sort of home detox, so they are helping a lot with the physical side effects. I have been weaning off the meds in the last three days (as directed) and was able to go today with only a couple of panadol, which is really good! I am also on another medicine, but I cannot remember the name, which is meant to help with cravings, though it will take a few weeks for enough of it to get into my system I believe.

It's going really well so far, a few false starts, but I'm happy with where I am. I went to the doctor about 3 months ago to tell him I had a problem, and I'm now on a "mental health plan" which includes 6 visits to a shrink who specialises in addiction for a fraction of the usual rate ($160 normally, I have to pay a gap of 20). I am going in all guns blazing this time, no more relapse, no more "one more".

Morning! Checking in with everyone. Day 20 here and going to my early morning meeting. Have an evening meeting as well.

Cat, hope you're feeling better, I've been sick to and it won't go away!

Fdm, get back on it! Glad you figured the trigger.

Have a safe flight courage.

Everyone I have missed, have a great sober day!
