I look forward to its unveiling! More importantly I look forward to seeing you live a sober healthy life. Make a commitment and follow through.

Well I ate some chicken soup and am deciding between watching a movie or taking a nap. I will probably nap as I woke up several times last night and stayed awake at five am.

I will stay sober today.

Rellz..........I will keep you and your fur baby in my thoughts and prayers.

Least.........I am glad you have chosen to stay sober today. Don't drink, No Matter What. The cravings will pass.

Stoney......Good to see you talking about how you feel. I have been struggling lately with not wanting to go to meetings. In fact, I walked out of one this week. I finally talked about it in a meeting and came up with that I don't HAVE to want to be there. I just have to be there.

I told my story last night at an AA meeting. It went well. I felt better about my sobriety when it was over.

I hope you all have a great day!

Thanks bugs, you have actually helped me reach a few decisions today...I actually agree with you more than you think, probably.

I am building myself a nice little house on the fence were I can be comfortable and take what I need from both sides.

I had a real problem w AA when I first came around, still do w some of it and some of the BB Thumpers. The friggin book is meant to be read NOT Thumped. Christ its NOT a freakin bible. But it does have some good stuff in it. Not that I have read the whole thing. I like some of the other less formal liturature better. Thats just me.

The higher power stuff is one of the hardest parts for me so I have learned simply to accept that its not me. Not that I thought that way anyway. I use group of drunks/ drug addicts, good orderly direction and the group as a whole that is a power greater than myself. Im not a religious person, but I do like to think I am spiritual. I lean towards naturalist and or native beliefs (native american). I also like some of the Buddist beliefs and ways.

I use the group as a social outlet too and eventually I found people I could relate to and be friends with - some closer than others. Some people I only talk to at meetings and some not at all. I did find out for sure that some of the crap that goes on in my head and how I feel is not that foreign and alot of people feel exactly the same way. Once I got comfortable and built trust w a few people I was able to share some of my most private feelings w another person and it has proven to be a great relief. When I connected with a few people I actually found myself looking forward to meetings and doing things outside of the program. For me I am very blessed to have found a couple guys who love the water and fishing almost as much as I do. I guess I do continue to do that obsessively, but in my opinion its a healthy obsession. I sometimes even buy fishing tackle obsessively.

Helping others in general is good for me too. I dont care if its 12 step work or not. I like helping people and expecting nothing in return. Guess I was a psych major for some reason years ago.

Anyway thats what I TAKE from the program at this point and it seems to work pretty well for me. Sure maybe I'll get to the rest of the step work eventually but all I have to do is stay honest, openminded, willing to learn and most importantly sober and I will do ok TODAY.

Thanks frst, it is good to hear someone sharing my views and staying sober doing it. There are lots in AA like that.
Imagine a line...
On one end is my sponsor and other thumpers and on the other end are people who go to meetings and haven't even read the book. I can never be like my sponsor, I am sick of trying. I have stopped trying today...I emailed him and told him this. I feel free! I hate being trapped in indecision and would rather make a wrong decision than suffer that any longer, I think I have made the right one for ME though.

Babes.
