It's about 2am here, standing on the front porch listening to the pouring rain and genuinely enjoying it. This is the finest New Year I've ever had, I'm really on top of my game right now. Feeling grateful for everyone here on SR, thank you so much.

So grateful to wake up alive and sober on another Jan. 1st, my wife's arms around me and our little electric woodstove keeping the room warm. I'm content and couldn't ask for more.

Grateful for a very clear memory of a New Year's Day at my grandparents' many years ago - the book I was reading, the silver sugar-spoon, the woodstove burning, the scones and fruitcake, the sense of peace and family with three generations of us there in the tiny house.

Grateful to be ending new years day sober.
Grateful to visit my mum this afternoon and grateful she's in good health.
Grateful to pick up my g.son from my wayward son and bring him home here.
Grateful to bath him, make him supper and read him a couple of chapters from his new book.
Grateful for no drama.
Grateful to buy tickets online for a safari park visit tomorrow.
Grateful to you all for understanding why I'm here and for not judging me.x

Grateful for friends with cozy vacation homes.
Grateful I made time to walk 3 miles on the trail today.
Grateful I was able to step away from (most of) the junk food.
Grateful we are returning to a normal (ish) routine tomorrow.
Grateful I am sober, calm, and capable of meeting the challenges that will come in 2019.

Grateful for a 99% reliable internet connection. After losing it last week for a whole day, I'm really grateful for it. Grateful that it connects me to the world, and more specifically, my SR family.

Grateful to take Luke out for a nice walk today. Grateful it is lovely out, if a bit nippy.
Grateful I have a routine med test tomorrow and then I see my good surgeon and I'm not entirely certain why. I would be so grateful if he had my bone scan results.
Grateful I am sober going into the evening. Grateful my mom seems to be feeling better.

Grateful we weren't in my car going round the baboon enclosure.
Grateful to see so many beautiful animals close up, especially the lions.
Grateful that though it has been freezing cold, the weather has been dry.
Grateful for a warm coat and boots.
Grateful to get home safely.
Grateful to phone my mum and know she is well.
Grateful for my naughty little cat currently sucking my arm.
Grateful to you all for your kind words and support. xx
