Animals We Love Grats part 2
Tanja, I think it's wonderful that you adopted an old dog like your buddy. I imagine many people overlook old dogs, or at least hesitate about adopting them. I am so glad that he had you to give him a loving forever home and a peaceful and loving ending to his life on this earth. Sounds like he gave you a pretty good life too!
Dog love ... there's nothing like it
RIP tanja's buddy
RIP Riley (beagirl)

Their "real" names are Jazmine (Lab) and Jackie (Beagle)
But Jackie has aquired a nickname...
My neice was here when Jackie was a puppy and saw her "pooing"
in the hall. She came running to me saying "your dog is pooing"
I said..nope..her name is Jackie. We went back and forth before I gave in
and let my neice call her pooing. LOL
Least and tanja...Sorry for your loss.

Asking for your prayers for Nikko. He's hurt his right rear leg/foot somehow, or something else is wrong, and can't walk on it at all. Yesterday he was favoring it, today he's not using it at all. And it must be bothering him as he refused his breakfast today and that's unusual. I'll have to take him to the vet today and I'm scared. Please keep Nikko in your prayers.
I am SO GRATEFUL for my wonderful vets. (the practice has two vets) She took xrays of his hip and said nothing was wrong with his bones/joints, in fact, no sign of arthritis either! She said it was most likely a pulled muscle/ligament and rest and time would heal it. Gave me pain meds to give him if needed. He's now resting on the bed. He'll get his supper in bed as it's too awkward and uncomfortable to stand on three legs to eat.
I am so relieved! I was worried sick that it was something awful that couldn't be fixed but vet said he'll be ok with time and rest. So no walks for a couple weeks until he can get around on his own on all four legs. I am so happy tonight! Thank you for your prayers.

Grateful that Nikko woke me up to take him outside for potty. Grateful that I'm not passed out cold and woke up easily as soon as I heard his little yelp. Grateful to look at my bed and see my three sleeping dogs, that sight always makes me feel good.
Asking for prayers for Nikko again. He's not getting any better and it's been four days of rest and pain meds and he's still not putting any weight on that rear leg. Vet thinks now it may well be diabetic neuropathy, not a pulled muscle, and a different course of treatment will be needed. I'll be bringing him back there no later than Saturday morning. I'm worried sick. He's my baby boy.
Beautiful dog story with a somewhat happy ending.

He's going to the vet early tomorrow morning. He finally ate his breakfast, later on, but wasn't enthusiastic as he usually is about eating. He's getting plenty of water now but is still not eliminating the same amount so that's one more thing to tell the vet.
Thank God for my good vets.
I had to wait to post this as Snoopy was sitting on my lap leaning up against me and being loved up. He's such a love bug.

Nikko is doing very badly. He's not peeing as much as he should, given the amount of water he's drinking. Not only that but now his other rear leg is going bad. I just took him outside to potty and he couldn't even stand on his "good" rear leg. I'm afraid, really afraid, that he's not going to make it. I can't force him to live like this. I'm so afraid. I think this may be the end of his life with me. I don't mean to be negative but he's getting worse quickly and I'm being realistic. He's not living right now he's just existing. I can't be so unfair to him.
Least, is there any way you can get him to the vet this afternoon? There may be something they can do to give him some relief. I'm so sorry you are dealing with this again. (((HUGS)))
