8 minutes 'til the end of the world!

...and so much left undone....

never read 'war and peace'.
never got my flying car.
never got 'closure' on addiction drama.

(but on the bright side)..........

I DON'T have to take out the trash tonight,
DON'T have to mow lawn tomorrow (lawn gone!)
STILL haven't finished my Christmas shopping,
AND still have stuff I forgot to pick up at dry cleaners.

......all of which means if the world DOESN'T end in 8
minutes.......I am screwed!

Glad to see we're all still here! I enjoyed your posts, also.

I awoke to a text message from my husband, saying "We're still alive." I forgot that it was supposed to be the end of the world and had a little panic thing going, thinking along the lines of disaster at workplace, car accident on the way home, him being called to a fire and being trapped or something like that -- all these gruesome thoughts -- thinking the worst, since he didn't answer texts I sent or calls to his phone. He finally called me, explained the text, and was laughing at me.

I was reassured by my husband who
reminded me that it says in the bible
that no one knows when the world will
end but God. My HP.

What a relief that i have no need to
worry and can continue to live each
day at a time sober as is meant to be.

Vale......the day isn't over ......

I gently suggested to my husband that, if he believed the Mayan prediction of doom, he could either get my Christmas present before today and spend a million bucks because he wouldn't have to pay it back OR to wait until after today and avoid the crowds at the mall altogether. He was choosing the second option....oh well.

Personally, I don't think God would clue in the Mayans.....and even the Mayans don't believe this hype. It's the end of the 13th Baktun and the beginning of the 14th Baktun....nothing more.....

But sorry about the lawn....oh....and thanks for the clue what to get you for Christmas. I'm sending you a copy of War and Peace. Enjoy.....because it may take the entire 14th Baktun to read it!

gentle hugs

Maybe we just read the Mayan calender upside down and its really 5105.

Poor Vale, so much to do and such little time.

P.S. The Bible is so much better then War and Peace....just saying. lol

Vale, you are so clever and funny! What a great way to start the day
I laughed out loud! On a sober note, my kids are so concerned as mass hysteria took over their school this week. Rumors of someone coming on campus with a rifle started midweek, and they have taken extra precautions by having 4 additional police on the school campus this week. I tell you, I will breathe a sigh of relief when this day is done. Even though we are all still breathing and the world is still turning, there are too many "kooks" who are losing their marbles and taking good souls down.
PS: War and Peace ? Really???
Hugs

Postscript:

The world actually DID end at 11:11 local time----as the 13th Baktun came to
an end.Vale's lawn remained unmowed, despite there STILL being (a little) gas left
in the lawnmower's gas tank. The dry cleaning stayed at the drycleaners, and Vale
found himself 'indisposed' at the aforementioned time (a euphemism for the the more
vulgar 'in the water closet','doing business',or just 'on the toilet').

On his lap (of course) was a copy of War and Peace*

(Who ever said God doesn't have a first rate sense of humor?)

*Cliff notes,actually---reading the entire novel on the toilet
whilst yelling at other family members to "go use the upstairs
bathroom" would have world-ending ramifications (familio-global
thermonuclear war) with or without half-assed Mayan calendars.

Incidentally, I read War and Peace in 2012. If the world had ended with my having spent my last year reading War and Peace Tolstoy would have heck to pay in the afterlife, I tell you what! He's probably counting his lucky stars right now.

So, the lawn is not mowed? and there was gas after all? The dry cleaning has not been picked?? All because you were "indisposed" I might be a codie but even I can see that story is a load of poop.

P.S. OK, alright, as long as you aren't shopping for "preowned tires" on Craig lists, you are still in good shape!!

My all time FAVORITE euphemism for this......um......activity......is......"dropping the kids off at the pool".

Sorry......couldn't resist.

I can see that story is a load of poop.
A room full of codies could see through that thinly "valed" excuse.....oh yes......this IS a room full of codies. But I'll give a for creativity.

FANTASTIC! I've got 3093 years left! Procrastinators dream!
I could abscond with the Gideon Bible next time I'm in a hotel,
although stealing Bibles seems kinda oxymoronic.

(a triple-entendre!!!! Oxy was the addict's DOC!)

War and Peace, though,is still a bit much to bite off-----maybe a
round 4000 years and I would have a go at it!

And there's still the lawn issue.I have a sneaking suspicion Mrs. Vale
isn't gonna let 4000 years slide (even if I DID edge last week).

Perhaps you could explain it this way to Mrs Vale...........

Honey, I am codependent and I have some issues that need to be worked out. I NEED to spend time with my other codie friends for their experience, strength and hope. Codies helping codies is where its at. So, Instead of taking care of a few minor things around here, I was on the computer with Crazybaby, Kindeyes, LoveMeNow and Interrupted.

I am sure she will fully understand! What reasonable wife wouldn't?

Yeah! That's the ticket!! I'm gonna go tell her that RIGHT NOW!

(and so it was that Vale was never heard from again,no more posts,no more digital footprints at all....)

.....it was as if he vanished from the face of the Earth.

Nobody knew why......LMN was the last to message him----certainly he was not so stupid as to ACTUALLY DO what she suggested?!?!?!?!

The world will never know.Unconfirmed reports have him wandering
aimlessly muttering about lawns, stolen tires,etc.....in a manner that could
only be described as "incoherent".
