I was already scheduled for a business trip this week - I'm in Canada and will be giving a presentation to a group of 75-100 people on Friday. I considered cancelling the trip, but I need to be here. My friend will have a multitude of family and friends in town for the memorial service this weekend. I will be spending time with her regularly in the weeks and months to come.

That's how I am taking care of myself today. I'm doing the next thing in front of me, and knowing what is and is not mine to handle.

The super bonus? I will get to spend time with another dear friend for a day or 2 while I'm here. It's a bonus gift from being in recovery - really great recovery friends all over the globe!
