It would not hurt to consult an attorney regarding protection of your assets. The longer you are married to this man the more he will try to take.

Where I Iive a consultation is usually free and it could prove to be valuable in terms of knowledge.

Entering couples counseling sounds like it might be a win-win situation, really. If progress is made, then your marriage is saved and both of you are in a better place. If ultimately you divorce, your healing will have already begun.

We had a great couples therapy session today at his rehab. I told him that I would like to continue couples counseling in the future when he gets out, which he is agreeable to.
