We are good at telling people what they want to hear and yes they are delay tactics. Do you see how he is making this a "we" thing? We are also good at complicating things so that you think you are going around in circles and that it is you that has the problem.

He knows the only way to fix it is to stop drinking. But if he doesn't really want to stop he won't. I couldn't stop until I finally got to the point that I really wanted to. Even my own daughter couldn't get me to stop until I wanted it.

At the end of the day you have to do what is best for you. Make sure that Carmen's needs and happiness are being looked after, don't lose yourself in all this.
