My sister died last month and no one told me

I too am so sorry for your loss. My sister also passed away last month. In addition to dealing with the worse pain I have ever experienced, I had to figure out how to handle my mother's "unique" way of processing this loss.
At first she didn't want to tell any extended family members! She went into complete denial and I think she thought not telling people would make it not true. She also felt like she couldn't handle talking with people about it.
I finally put my foot down and demanded that we call family. She chose not to come to the service or funeral, but was critical of everything that was done. In my family, a crisis seems to bring out the worse behavior.
A private memorial service sounds lovely. I'm planning on planting a garden or perhaps getting a tattoo to remember my sister.
