Can't wait to hear more...keep us posted! Since I have to stay here and finish being a Mom...well...in the living with me sense, I can only live vicariously through others travel adventures!

I lived just outside of DC when I was a kid - my Dad was in the military and stationed at the Pentagon.

Me too Tuffgirl! we lived in Alexandria, but so many years ago.........
Ah, TC, you will have some people nearby to help.
What an exciting and wonderful year (hopefully more) for you.

I want to see Niagra Falls too.

Thank you dear friends
My visa was granted today!! The interview was very easy...

Now on to relax with friends and look for a place to live !! the actual visa will arrive in 2 weeks approx.

I already have a housewarming party there and a lunch date planned with a new friend there... between that and your comments, I am feeling excited and grateful it was a very special moment, receiving the news

Please send good vibes so a couple of potential roomies like me and let me stay with them at a house near the Zoo. This would be a temporary arrangement while I find something else for myself and the cats.

I am now in panic mode as I am leaving sooner than I planned, but I hope HP helps me sort all the things out...

I have been happy the last days meeting friends, but now I am feeling afraid and lonely lol.. I know its part of the transition so I am trying to be kind to myself and cover HALT..

It helps to post here.. thanks friends ((hugs))

So my flight date is set for Sat 27th and I can feel my excited heart already,

I have had a WONDERFUL time these last weeks, enjoying my time with family and friends. Not everything has been perfect but I am just happy to be alive. Even went to the beach. Not everything was perfect there either, in fact there were stressful moments but I realized it was due to the company I had, that it was not ME, nor the place. So I went back to my own peace. Codie, NO MORE! I enjoyed many things by myself and for myself.

Sometimes I have felt I am walking towards Death instead, LOL, getting my inheritance paperwork done, apologizing to people, saying goodbyes.

I STILL don't have a place lined up for my yet very stressed due to that, but I will live in craigslist, coach surfing, hotel webpages these days... I have a lead on a convenient place (a temporary arrangement) so please send good vibes so this works and I can move on with all the other stuff I have to solve before leaving !! It has been more difficult as I am bringing my 2 cats with me, but of course leaving them behind is not an option. They are such good sports and loving...

Working full time and fixing everything by myself is tiring... I am a "one-woman show". But I know I can do it and HP/SR friends... PLEASE send me good luck

I'm excited for you!

I live off the red line in Maryland, and for what it's worth, the metro runs no matter how much work they are doing on the tracks! Lots of people rely on it to get to DC from here.

You'll enjoy your stay! Private email me if you need any info on meetings, AA, Al Anon, or CODA.

I'd offer a room at the Jazz mansion until you get settled but I'm deathly allergic to cats!!!

Good luck, you'll be fine, can't wait to read about your adventures, and lets do lunch!

I am EXHAUSTED!
I arrived today.

D.C is way more beautiful and way more interesting than I could anticipate! you were all right!!

I have mixed feelings but after the transition period I know I will appreciate my time here..

Just to let you know I am here and the cats are doing alright it definitely helps to have them with me!

Cheers!

Welcome! You got here right in a beautiful time of year. Not too hot, yet, and not too cold! I was born and raised here. Nova/DC is still my home base as I travel the world and live abroad but always end up back here!

Welcome!

Welcome to the US, TC!

My office is based in DC, but I've only been down there a couple of times--mostly work from my home when I'm not traveling. It IS a very fascinating city!

Good luck getting settled--you will be getting around like a native in no time.
