Barbara, I am so sorry. I lost my dad 16 yrs ago yesterday and I still feel the loss profoundly.... Shortly after my mom died this year, I had lunch with a dear family friend. She and her husband and another couple had been my parents' best friends and they did many things together. This woman refers to herself as "the last one standing" as she's the only survivor of the original 6. We talked and laughed and reminisced... and she said her happiest thoughts are of the other 5 as angels in heaven, joyously laughing and singing.... opening their arms to my mom and saying "it's about time you got here! Now the fun can really begin!"

I can imagine the same for your mom. Her pain is gone, she's happy and free, and I'm sure there's room at the table for her to join the group. She'll enjoy it there.
