Agree with the hook theory
When I went to his place to collect my stuff after he self-righteously threw me out of his life, XABF made a fool of himself running out after me, yelling my name as my friend and I got into my car to drive off - and for my $15 crappy wal-mart fan I had loaned to him, which was now caked in carpet deodorizer and febreeze he used to try to cover up his problems.
I told him I already had what I wanted and he made us wait while he looked for the remote to the $15 crappy wal-mart fan from the box of items already packed in my car. It's almost like he'd do anything for a few more minutes of my life.

Picked up the downstairs phone (the one without caller ID display) just as we were about to sit down to dinner this evening.
Me: Hello?
XABF: So, did you get your parcel from me?
I hung up immediately.

Ugghhh so frustrating what they do!
My exabf saw that my car was home so called my cell phone because he was out front with my stuff. Although he was suppose to drop it off days before and couldn't even give me the courtesy of that (shocker). He left this pathetic, non-caring voicemail that ended with "sorry for what happened and hope to talk to you soon". Well that was the last i heard from him because there was no reason to talk to him anymore and i certainly was NOT clearing his conscience for him lying and cheating on me.
That guilt is for them, not us
you did the right thing ARL, absolutely no reason to return the postage to him and good for you for hanging up!

Not only would I not respond.... I would disgard anything of his he included. He wants to have a reason to contact you again. "Oh I gave you that in error". Me... I would toss his stuff. He had not good reason to give it to you and if he wanted the stuff he would still have it.

Oh, lost, I tossed the stuff (all except for the photos) and I was amazed at what he had sent to me. I'm thinking he was drunk when he packed the box. Ain't no way I am going to let him find a way back into my life.
