Introduction. I was wrong.

Hello Everyone.

I am new to this site and I think it's time that I admit that I was wrong.

I've always told myself that I didn't have a problem. I was wrong.
I've always told others that I could handle it. I was wrong.
I've always believed that I didn't drink as bad as others. I was wrong.

This has to end, and I think that this place can help. I spent some time reading around other posts. I think this will work out here. I can say things with out seeing others faces and talk with out that irrational fear that I'm being judged by others eyes.

I've been to A.A meetings and always said I wasn't that bad, I could handle it, I don't do half the things these guys have. I was wrong.

Today is going to mark Day 1. Day 1 is the day that I say no, and I make the effort to save my marriage, my job, my health, my sanity, and my life.

My List for Day 1.

1. Don't Drink
2. Win tonight's soft ball game
3. Don't Drink
4. Shower
5. Don't Drink
6. Sleep.

Welcome,
"I was wrong" are the exact same words I muttered when I realized wtf happened as life flashed past me while I was standing still feeling lost.
I found AA to.

Welcome

You may want to come up with a sobriety plan. As may will attest sobriety is a little bit more complicated than just not drinking.

I've started to look into that. One thing I am going to do is contact a local Therapist to talk to. I can't exactly do A.A. as 1. It never really worked for me. 2. If I run into one of my clients from where I work I could lost my job, and I can't have that. As I start to learn more I will come up with more to the plan, but I think talking to a therapist at the least is a good place to start.

I know 2 priests, 3 doctors, 3 teachers, 1 lawyer, 1 high government official, VP of a brokerage firm, director of a multi billion company, 4 nurses all who credit AA with saving there lives. Just a thought

SJ

I've been using weekly therapy, this site, and a lifestyle plan including daily exercise, writing, meditation, healthy diet (no caffeine), all in an effort to reduce my anxiety level - one of the root causes of my drinking. And it's kept me off the juice for nearly 5 months. Therapy has really made the difference...

Thanks for the suggestions and links to ideas guys. That will help a lot. I know that I am going to have to make a complete lifestyle change. Which is not actually a bad thing. I would like to lost some weight, and maybe stop smoking at some point. Step 1 is admitting to the problem. Step 2 is researching and acting on fixing the problem.

I know it's going to take more than just not drinking. I'm glad I found a place that gives such support and ideas.

It is what we do that makes the difference. All thinking in the world will not get us sober

Sounds like you are willing to do the necessary work. Keep posting
