Swine Flu

I was wondering what some of your thoughts are on the Swine flu...
I have been nervous about the possibility of a pandemic. Is it just me or are there other here who are worried?
I know it is all in God's hands...
I just wondered if it was stressing anyone else out?!?!

I put it in the same lines as Monkey Pox, Bird Flu, Sars, Anthrax, Bubonic Plague, Hoof and Mouth, Mad Cow, and any other media created frenzy that is supposed to be the next pandemic that will kill off mankind.
Fear sells and the media knows this. I'm not the least bit concerned.
Besides, the flu, just the simple flu that goes around every year kills over 30,000 people but you never hear about it. It just doesn't capture the attention of people like the possibility of an upcoming pandemic does.

I think there might be reason to have a healthy respect for this epidemic. While I am concerned about the virus, I am more concerned about the widespread panic and hysteria that could result.

This was the best lesson the media had when it comes to grabbing public attention.
Scare the wits out of em.

I'm not asking if that event actually took place... I'm asking if that was really in the news? Something that may happen and people really panicked over such nonsense?

From memory (not mine personally but from hearing about this) its an article about a radio play (1970'-80's?) that was about aliens landing - listeners who missed the start of it and so didnt realise it was a radio play thought all the drama (which was quite life like) on the radio was real.... and panicked! Apparently it created public hysteria hahahaha

ok maybe not so funny if you were the one freaked out about aliens but funny in hindsight

I'll definitely steer clear of anyone who looks sick but alot of the news reminds me of the childhood story about Chicken Little who said: "the sky is falling! the sky is falling!"

HIV+ since I was 19.........just had to have the pretty boy I met in the rooms
HepC since early 20s........just had to try the needle for one week with one guy.. Even
told him I might have AIDS and he said me2.. Did not even
think about HepC.
Stage 3 melanoma............just had to be tan..........

I'm only sick because of the darn treatments.... My HP knows when it's time for me to go......

The health stuff does not bother me much.... I really get mad about how the media blows it way up before one even really knows whats going on....
Remember Y2K????

So it seems like the majority of people here will only worry about the swine flu... When pigs fly...
