I have already shared some of what is going on with my husband in a couple of other forums on SR this past week, but wanted my 'codie family' to know about it too.
He had three areas biopsied last week, one of those redone on Tuesday, and he will be having surgery early tomorrow morning to remove a skin cancer- it's pretty extensive and will require a good deal of reconstructive work- but we have been given no guarantees about the outcome.
I appreciate your prayers at this time...thanks in advance!

Is he having a MOH's surgery? They say it's a 99% recovery rate with that type of surgery. But only a few dermatologist/surgeons can do it.
Basically, they remove all the skin cancer and then keep going, putting sample cells under the microscope until they see no more cancer cells. It's an all day procedure because of the wait time between every cell sample, but my mom's had it done twice now and no recurrance of the cancer either time. Do you know what "type" of skin cancer it is? I believe her's was called basil cell carcinoma or something like that.
Sending prayers in any case....
Love, Barb

Sis,
You are so right, thank you. He has had to deal with alot and I won't go into the details here but he has been through alot of pain, disability and ongoing issues besides this. I think that's what has me in a spin...that this could affect him in other ways. We always 'get through' and I'm thankful for the strength God gives us, I'm just tired of it. He's one tough guy and has amazing faith! btw for those who don't know us too well...we have been together since 1972...married over 33 years!
Thanks to all. It could take anywhere from 4-7 hours to perform the surgery. It is a Mohs procedure being done and this doctor is one of the best around. The doc said that hubby should be able to return to work on Monday....but I want to keep him home with me!
I'll be doing plenty of recovery work tonight and tomorrow....lots of letting go and letting God, plus trying to make sure I take good care of myself, while I take care of him. I had a brownie and a glass of milk for lunch today.
hugs to y'all,

We left the office at 2 and he's resting now. The cancer had spread a little more than we expected but it's all out now and with clear margins.
Please keep praying for him to heal.
Thank you so much for your kindness and prayers.

Thank you so much for your kindness and prayers.
Will still keep sending prayers, but think you should stop worrying. He will be fine.
