The patch on your right shoulder looks like a four pronged post of three leaf clovers, henceforth called "The Fourth Post Patch". The one on your left looks like the Black Knight struck by lightening, maybe that's why you call yourself Blacky
Because I really don't know, was going to say (which I am, haha) that the only military patches I know well are the bandages the stretcher bearers' carry to try and patch people up. Long live the bandage.
If I remember (a bit) the myth of Dionysus, the Greek god of wine and orgy, he gets pissed, completely disintegrates (into a million pieces) then moves into the stars with the sole task of picking up all of his shattered pieces and reintegrating. It is a long journey.
The task was decreed by 3 old cave dwelling women who have a pretty unshakeable snake coiled as sentry to the entrance, and until Dionysus finds all of his pieces and reintegrates, he will never gain access to the cave, his Nirvana.
He gets there in the end I think. It's a good story. I'll try and find a picture of him and maybe the 3 *witches" in the cave but doubt it, women don't get the same press
Will also post a 50 cent thermos flask which I know will not keep stuff hot for very long but liked the retro colours and design.
If I tried to guess the name of the military patches I expect that someone will try to guess who were the manufacturer's of this most classic piece of 60's kitchenalia
Clue: It was manufactured in Nashville and is pretty magical.

Having trouble posting a picture of Dionysus who was not just the God of wine and orgy, but a God of joy too.
I'll try to work out a roundabout way of posting videos and pictures, Apple really wrecked me up with their reconfiguration. I reckon it's a plot.
And the thermos will reveal all.

The picture post failed......try again.
And in keeping with the Dionysus theme herewith op shop earings in the manner of a bunch of grapes.
They are screw-on but easily converted to pierced. Have to look up who the woman equivalent of Dionysus is, maybe she wore them. Maybe is me.

Had trouble posting yesterday but wanted to say how wonderful your Dad looks Blacky. If my Dad were still alive I reckon he'd be sitting next to him with a CND
(Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament) peace sign on his chest. It would have made a great shot. Two old men, skull and peace. Dad would have raised his glass to him.
Also got pretty close with your patches but note that no one picked up on my fun sober game of Pick the Thermos......oh well, as you all give up the answer is ALLADIN. And it was made in Nashville too, thought it was a giveaway haha

The picture was removed by me because of the content, the gesture. I realize there are only a few people participating on this thread but others view and don't always comment, we're responsible for keeping it clean.

.. So I will say to you all .. there is more than one way to go about most things ,,
.. no be all , one way sort of thing .. if you have the dedication you can succeed ..
.. and also failure is just a rung on the ladder to success .. might be a broken rung ,, ha ha ,,
.. heck might break up near the top .. and you fall a great way down ..
.. but you can lose it all .. and sometimes that is what it takes ..
.. I have, .. and got it back 3 - 5 times IDK .. of course Death is hovering about ,,
.. No need for me to say anything else ..

It must be a cultural thing. Isn't the gesture made by Blacky's Dad just that rap kid sign for on ya, OK, cool or something?
What DOES it mean? Is it crude or something? Must update my symbolic gestures lexicon.
I thought it just to be the "thumb's up" from an old man.
