5 Months sober today
5 Months sober today
Looking at Markaburke’s post – 1 year in – I know just how small my own
achievement is to date, but I’m saying it in any way. Today I’m 5 months sober,
exactly. Stopped on the 12th of December and suddenly here I am. I’ve had bad
days, sure, especially in the first couple of months. But now, except for some
occasional pain over my liver area and woozy episodes now and then, I’m good. I
get in a bit of exercise (as much as the lockdown here lets me) and my diet is
as bad as it can be, living with two people (dad and stepmom) who believe three
starches and a piece of meat a day is all the body needs. Veggies, to them, are
for Sundays only.– mashed together with potatoes, of course. I have to admit
that I sometimes dream of sipping from a big wine-glass of Merlot or Chardonnay
on the verandah of my own house by the sea, at the end of the day while
watching the sun sinking into the waters of the Atlantic. But I’ll deal with
that when I get there. For now, I’m sober, and in another month it will be half
a year.
Thanks to all you SR guys for your support and nice words when I needed
- and still need - them. (Emoticons, it seems, don't work on SR any more...They
all look like >>> and AAA's....LOL)
Dee???? Am I right, or is it
perhaps just the format/font I'm using? And my script is all spaced out?? It
has been for the last two or three posts?

Rb1964: Congrats on 5 months!
....dreaming of sipping a TASTY FRUIT DRINK on the verandah by the sea.....
When I consider the absolute truth of it all, I realize that I enjoy the taste of non-alcohol drinks much more than any spirit etc.
Fruit juice, chocolate milk, sometimes a nice coffee, a milkshake. Mmmmmm.
If you asked me if I LOVED the taste of any alcohol drink in my entire past. I would have to answer no, NEVER, not even once.
I love that, having been sober for a bit (44 days) I (we) can be honest with my self about my alcoholism and the conditions surrounding it.
Great job on five months! Appreciate your sharing.
Yes, cant use emoticons or apostrophe.....
