Just reading my first post...I didn't *get it* the first time I decided to drink on and off for a good while after this 'realisation' - but SR helped me to identify - identify that I was alcoholic and go out and find the solution so many others had - HP and AA. I said in my first post I hope I can find recovery and I have and it's wonderful. I am so grateful.Cathy31

Cathy, so happy to have you here. I'm pretty new to sobriety (3 weeks!), and like you, I had been waiting for my "rock bottom". Funny thing is, there were plenty of those, I just failed to see them for what they were. I am thankful for what we AA's call "yets"... in other words, what WOULD I have done if I'd continued looking for another worse bottom? "I've never gotten a DUI" (YET), "I've never blacked out and done things I don't remember" (YET), "I haven't lost my house" (YET)

Welcome and I think you'll find everyone here to be helpful and many of us have been here, there, or wherever you have been at one point.
Welcome,
s

Cathy,

Thank you for sharing, it takes courage to tell your story. You only have to go to your first meeting once so go ahead and go, you won't regret it.

Wishing you miles of smiles,

John
