Thoughts?

Suggestions for what I can take instead?
I took ambien for 3 years nightly. I wanted off of it too. It was too controlling. It is also scary in many ways. I have done the weird texting too. And it turned out very awkward. I decided not to take it. I am prescribed muscle relaxer for multiple health reasons but never too it because it made me sleepy. So it donned on me... I can take it in place if ambien. It will help the pain it was prescribed for and helped me sleep. It didn’t knock me out like ambien. It doesn’t even really make you feel super sleepy but if you just go lay in bed your more relaxed then u think. I fall asleep within about 15-20 minutes of getting into bed. It’s been about 4-5 months without ambien for me.

Thanks Darcerella. Aren't muscle relaxants a bit addictive as well? Not judging, just wondering.

I'm back on the Ambien for now because I was having terrible withdrawal. The doctor suggested I taper much more slowly.

I still don't have a plan for sleep when I stop. Unfortunately, there are not many sleep aids that are both effective and non-addictive.

Soma and Flexeril (both muscle relaxants) can be highly addictive with terrible withdrawals, particularly Soma. Overuse of Soma is referred to as Soma Coma.
