Alcoholic/sober thinking
Thx D! I reckon I will too, but I'm also crossing my fingers & staying close here.
I have to go to an annual ordeal in Wash. DC in two days -- and I've given up all of my props, even cigarettes. For the first time, I'll be relying entirely on my self, rather than on distractions & quick tricks. I think the question is not so much "will she stay abstinent?", but "will she manage not to act and feel like a bitter, dry, resentful bitch?"
Place your bets!

Thx for the vote of confidence, Hawkeye & Delilah.
Lucky for them, other people don't have to be around me more than a little bit if at all. I have to deal with the inside of my own head 100% of the time. The little challenges I sometimes post here are just a tiny part of my ongoing mental inquisition. It gets old even though it's manageable.
Ok that was a whine. Sorry.

Fantastic post!
"that if something disturbs me, some element of the disturbance is in me"
This is so true. I've gradually learnt that when things/people are annoying me and it carries on for any length of time that I just need to stop and try to figure out whats happening. The problem is with me and more often than not its my old friend - alcohol doing its thing. Realising what the problem actually is seems to stop things spiralling out of control.
Thanks for sharing your experience...great stuff

First off, congrats on being self-aware enough to recognize your feelings and work through them. That alone shows how far you've come in your recovery.
Secondly, I think as even more time goes by, your sobriety will become such second nature that you won't HAVE to give it so much thought (I like to call it my "new normal").
Thirdly, congrats on your upcoming sober anniversary!
Lastly, I think you're AWESOME
