I totaled my car
On saturdaynight......I hit a pole.......I had Valium beer wine and pot in my system. I did not give the cops a hard time.".....they took my blood......a I took a nap........my car is fully covered and I'm picking up a free rental tomorrow compliments of my insurance company. I'm sure to get dropped now and I'll have to go and get a lawyer.......I've never had a duo befor
I'm glad you are okay, Debbie, and no one got physically hurt. Does it feel like the proverbial 'wake up call?' We are lucky to get chances like this to turn things around without major tragedy striking. I know I was.

If you have an accident under a DUI , car insurance generally will not cover damages to your car( just liabilies to others), even if you have full coverage , this may be a costly education to quit using!
P.S. as posted above, your going to need a lawyer.
Cheers

Do your doctor and therapist know about your heavy (DUI-level) use of valium, alcohol and pot? Lot of times we neglect to mention those things, or we minimize how much we actually use them. They all affect anxiety and mood, too.

My recovery plan: I'm sure the court will give me one. I think it's 90 days of AA meetings......I was told by my previous therapist to stay away from AA......so I loath to go. My doctor knows about my drug use. He said my anxiety and depressive mood order are bi lateral.........so he recommended a therapist and AA just this Monday. I just want to get this over with.
Debbie, going to court appointed AA meetings is not going to help if you don't want to be there.
What I think people here are trying to get at is this can be a real turning point for you.
I know the DUI has your focus now and that's understandable in a way, but looking beyond the DUI to staying sober for good from now on can only help you in every conceivable way - including your legal trouble.
There is some great advice in these links about making a recovery plan that suits your needs:

Dee and zjw.......I know my problem goes deeper than just drinking.......that's why I started to see a psychiatrist.......and it has been helpful. This anxiety and depressive mood disorder I suffer from drives me to self medicate. I'm not so worried about court......maybe I should be but I'm more concerned w fixing myself......and Im just about give up.......I'm not normal and I never have been and probably will never be no matter how hard I try.
