Thinking of jumping on the sober train again!
Thinking of jumping on the sober train again!
Sure many of you know my story but for those who do not I'll leave cliff notes!
- sober for 7+ years!
- few months ago decided to moderate my drinking
No problems moderating really, just feel like it's a waste and I don't enjoy it all that much, costs money(rather buy tangible items, save etc) and due to age(??-33) I feel even a few drinks the following day, in turn im lazy that day and I feel sluggish.
Really I just prefer sober living at the end of the day, many more pros to being sober my .2 cents.
Back on the sober train I gooooooo.
Questions, comments welcome as usual.

Welcome back. Alcohol makes everyone feel like ---- the next day, alcoholic or not. I have non-alcoholic friends who will drink 4-5 drinks at a "wild party" (according to them... Lol) and they report feeling like ---- the next day. We all feel our best when we don't drink.
We all feel better minus the booze. Great to see you again.

The next day i'd be so lazy, movies in bed lol comfort food... Basically the day was an essential write off 3/4 at least and i'd be too lazy to exercise or stick to my diet.
Waking up sober, normal, really is a great feeling!
Its crazy cause back in the day(8 years ago) I felt tip top the next day but I was in my early 20's then. Now i'd have a few, even drink water in between drinks, pop some extra vitamins before bed(alcohol strips us of vitamins!) and get up during sleep drink more water, still wake up feeling soso and thats at best!

Like you, I have also found "moderation" to be pretty unsatisfying even if it is "do-able" which it may or may not be over time. It is like playing with a loaded gun, even if the safety seems on.
Ultimately, being sober just feels more grounded and even if I don't "enjoy" everything in the same way as I once did with a buzz, I feel more present and just taking in the daily acts of life one moment at a time.
I really agree with you here--no matter how "careful" you are with water, amounts of booze, and sleep, it impacts your body and mind negatively to drink, at least for those of us with a past problem with alcohol.

The alcohol effects everyone, Advil, water, vitamins will only minimize the effects. Also mixed drinks vs spirits and darker alcohols vs lighter ones, darker contains more congeners which in turn will generally make your the hangover worse.
Well everyone's case and road is totally different for sure. I don't want to sidetrack this thread but if you search for threads started by me you will find your answer. Get comfy it'll be a long and interesting read lol.
