How to drink normally ***Warning, Very Long Post!!!***
This is what you do if you want to drink normally......
A) You hop in your vehilce, or take transit, or walk, or ride bicycle to the nearest bar room.
B) You grab a seat in the bar.
C) And most important, you order a drink and "drink normally"
D) If you drink 1 drink, then after 1 or 2 hours you go home.
If you drink 2 drinks, then after 2 or 3 hours you go home.
If you drank 3 drinks, then after 3 or 4 hours you go home.
E) There is NEVER any thought of wanting more booze! EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't really understand your post, but I agree with SoberJennie. People who drink normally don't have a voice in their head telling them they can.
What's the point in one or two drinks? I wanted the buzz - and then I wanted it to continue.
Then at some point I crossed an invisible line and I had to drink to feel normal.

Tried that the first night of my relapse.
The next night, instead of hopping into a car to go to a bar, I collected a few beers, and went into my room.
The same the next night, only more beer.
It was a viscous cycle.
Although I'm in VERY early stages of recovery, I plan to have friends over instead of going on nights out. Alcohol will NOT be involved. I used to be able to have fun without alcohol, and I will have fun again without it

I think Markz's saying that this the way to do it - if you can.
i.e probably no one on this forum would be able to do this so just accept it and stop torturing yourself about trying to drink 'normally' cos we aren't wired up like that.
At least that's how I interpreted it......

I can't even imagine it. I remember being at a local brewery/bar with my drinking buddies when one of them noticed that I had "lapped" them--ordered another beer when they weren't done with theirs--winner! 4 beers an hour was walking speed for me...

I don't think that would help much seeing as virtually everyone here were ABNORMAL drinkers.
1 drink and go home after an hour? Are you kidding? My favorite bar of all time had happy hour from 2pm-7pm MTF that served 16 oz beers for 50 cents. What makes you think ANYONE would have just one drink under those circumstances?
Talk about being optimistic.

Happy hour with friends? 2-3 beers
Pick up 12 pack on the way home and finish it that night.
Sorry for the obnoxious amount of O's, but that's how slowly they seemed to drink to me when I was trying to match how they drink.
On thanksgiving I saw a young woman, 25 yrs old sip one glass of wine over four hours.
They are chatting, watching a game. Non-alcoholics drink soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo slowly.

I would not consider a sip a sip unless at least half of my mouth was full when drinking wine and with beer it would be two or three gulps at a time.
Guinness and red wine were the worst. A pint of guinness would be four sups and white wine for me was not really drinking, I could literally drink it like water.
