hi violetflame,
good to see you here and great that you found what helped you for today. meeting a friend was a good plan.
making concrete plans helped me through many new-sober events and while changing my routines and learning how to live differently.

Thanks for the encouragement. I am 62 and have always drank ever since 16 years old. This will be tough.

Having a tough time this afternoon. Have drank lots of coca cola because it helps with the cravings. I can't seem to focus on anything. Can't watch tv. Wish I could just go to sleep. Trying to make new habits is difficult. I was too eXhausted today to go to a meeting. But tomorrow I am going to go to one and try to get myself a sponsor. I really want this to be a long term thing.

As long as you don't drink today, it has been a victory. How about having something sweet? That always helped me get through the cravings in the early days.

Just don't drink today; tomorrow isn't promised. All we have is today.

Just a thought, but for me I really had to watch my caffeine intake once I quit, for some reason it got me a lot more jumpy and anxious/restless than when I was drinking. If you are drinking a lot of Coke you might be getting too much caffeine?

Yeah that was a one day thing. I cut down today on the coke. Only had one today. But I do find myself drinking more coffee. Its a process. At least the withdrawals are better today. I am on day 3 and staying strong.

I messed up last night. Had a really stressful day and had 3 glasses of wine. I am so scared I am going to go back to the same cycle again. I need extra help to stay sober today!

Plenty of support here Violet.
Maybe it's time for a new recovery plan tho?
Healthier ways to deal with stress?

Next time those cravings hit, hit the Ice Cream! ICCC! Ice Cream Cures Cravings!

Ok, Sugar-Free Popsicles work if you need to go that way.

The cold and tasty treats knock out a cravings fast. Really.
